So, we spent the last two months exploring the southern part of the country waiting for the roads to open up in the mountains. But we are here now, and it's everything we imagined it would be!
We spent some time yesterday morning stocking up with a weeks worth of food and drink. Then we drove up to the mountain village of Boga where our "resort" is located.
We are headed into those mountains!
It's a narrow (but paved) road.
You have to watch your mirrors don't catch the cars going the opposite way!
The village of Ducaj.
We plan to climb this mountain on Friday!
We arrived at the town of Boga and had no problem finding the Boga Mountain Resort. It was the only place we could find in the area that offered self catering accommodation. There are a lot of guest houses where they also provide your meals, but we wanted to make our own meals.
It's the most expensive place we will have stayed in Albania, at €30 ($44 CAD, $37 USD) per night.
You can see Ruth sitting on our doorstep.
Living room with wood stove for the chillier evenings.
Kitchen.
Bedroom.
Bathroom.
Restaurant.
We will take advantage of the restaurant one night this coming weekend. It's supposed to be really good, with 90% local ingredients.
We also have two friendly (although somewhat noisy) dogs and a friendly cat.
Playground.
Camping area.
The RV Camping costs €5 per person and €2 per vehicle and €2 for electricity. So for two people, it would be €14 ($21 CAD, $17 USD) per night.
They have lots of these small cabins for rent.
Great views from the property.
Our neighbours.
It's been a while since we've done any strenuous hiking, so we don't want to jump right into it. But we are heading out to do some exploring today just around the valley. And even then there will be some elevation involved. We'll see how we do, and if we feel up to it, we'll do the mountain hike tomorrow.
We plan on hiking every day. And did you notice the blue sky and sunshine? It's supposed to be like this all week. Life is good!

Decent price drop on the Progressive Industries SSP-50X 50 Amp RV Surge Protector.
And in Canada...
You two have convinced me that visiting Albania may be the ideal way to get the Alps experience. Switzerland prices are scary....
ReplyDeleteWell hopefully we will convince you even more over the next week or so. We also agree that Switzerland's prices are scary, although we are looking forward to seeing Switzerland in our motorhome, that will at least make it somewhat cheaper.
DeleteSo much like BC, minus the cows on the roads(previous post)
ReplyDeleteYes, very much so. We even mentioned said that on our hike yesterday as we were hiking along a trail where is went through a nice forested part with dead leaves scattered over the trail.
