Our Travel Insurance - HeyMondo

Many countries around the world are beginning to open up for summer travel. And if you are going to travel, you want to have travel insurance that covers you for Covid related problems.

I don't want this to sound like an advertisement, because it's not. As any of our regular readers know, I put a lot of effort into researching just about anything we do. It's not only so that we get a good deal, although that is certainly a priority. It's also so that things go smoothly and we have a good understanding of what to do when things don't go smoothly.

Travel Medical Insurance is complicated. There are so many rules and exclusions that it's difficult to make comparisons simply because there is so much reading involved. Comparing policies from three different providers can literally take hours. I know, because I have done it.

We eventually chose HeyMondo. Their team was fast at answering any of my questions, and I liked how their Long Term Policy suited our needs. Of course they also have options for short trips and annual policies for multiple trips in a single year.

On the one hand, HeyMondo does not discriminate based on your age. The price is the same whether you are 30 or 60. On the other hand, the maximum age is 69.

The main reason I am writing about this today is that we were approved to become HeyMondo affiliates. The program means that we both win. When you buy a policy from HeyMondo, you get 5% off by clicking through the link...

So you save 5%, and we make a few dollars too. Not only that, but we also save 5% on our policy renewals. Like I said, everybody wins.

And, of course we wouldn't recommend them if we didn't like the product to begin with.

What else do I like?

The HeyMondo app.

Through the HeyMondo app, we have 24 hour access to a medical doctor via chat. We can also access their Travel Assistance team with any questions, and we can report any claims directly through the app.

So, whenever you are ready to travel, just come back to this blog post and click through the link above.

  1. This is very precious information concerning travel insurance ... especially for those younger than 69!!! Would you be aware of another good insurance provider for older folks, over 70? We need to find one that is decently priced and offers good coverage for 3-6 month trips outside of Canada. Thanks!

    1. I actually do not... simply because it will be years before we have to worry about that so I haven't had the need to do any research. Sorry...

  4. Hi Kevin. Were you using Heymondo for nomad travel? I just checked with them, and they won't insure my wife and I (61 & 57) for anything other than a max of 30 days since we're over 49 years-old. Is that a change from when you got it, or has it always been only up to 30 days for people our ages? Thanks.

    1. Yes, unfortunately they made some major changes that affect the older age groups including ourselves. I did a lot of research and the best option I can find for our age is now here... https://www.travelwithkevinandruth.com/2022/08/i-found-another-great-option-for-travel.html

    2. Thanks, Kevin. Now that you post it I see that it was you that posted the link in Senior Nomads FB group a little while ago, which I was looking at yesterday. I had used it and looked at the options, plus some other info, and probably going with an IMG plan custom to our needs. Thanks again.
