Sunday wasn't a great day

It wasn't bad... it just wasn't great! They were calling for showers on and off, and the temperature never got much above 18C (65F) and there were gusty winds. It was just a dull day. And sure enough, it did rain but it was a little more than showers. It really came down a couple of times, and with the wind it was just not nice.

We still planned on going out though. After all, we have raincoats and we needed to get some fresh air.

We always manage to keep busy with computer stuff though, and with an unlimited supply of fast free internet, there is always lots to do. Anyhow, I got a notification that some Windows updates were ready for download and so I went ahead and got them started.

We have our laptops set up so that automatic downloads are stopped for up to six weeks at a time. This way, they don't use up any cellular data while we might be using a MiFi device. I know there are different ways of dealing with this, but this way seems to work for us fine. The only problem is that the updates tend to pile up.

This time, it took forever! By the time I had all the updates downloaded and the system installs them and restarts a couple of times I bet it took two hours. Good thing we didn't have anything else planned!

One of the things I researched is getting vaccinated. It turns out that Poland does vaccinate foreigners, and it's free. And they are doing all age groups now over the age of 18. But you need to get approval from a General Practitioner who has to input your info into the health system. That part may not be free... we will find out today.

The weather finally started to clear up around 5pm, and we needed a couple of things for dinner. It turns out that many of the larger grocery stores are closed on Sundays, and many of the ones that are open close at 6pm. So we needed to get out.

Nice building mural.

That was the only photo I took all day. But look at the sky! You would never know how miserable it had been all day. We walked for a couple of kilometers just to get some exercise, and then headed back home.

Actually, it was a good thing we got some rest. We had walked 14.5 kms on Saturday, and today is bound to be another long walk day.

The sky is still blue, and it's supposed to be a beautiful day with a high of 23C (73F), so we are off to find out about getting vaccinated and of course we'll be doing a bunch more exploring. More photos of Warsaw for you tomorrow!

  1. Hi Kevin and Ruth! Steven and I are also in Warsaw and it looks like we have been in all the same places as you. Yesterday we enjoyed a nearly three-hour walking tour and then had lunch at the government-subsidized Milk Bar. Interesting, but not the best food ever. We are parked up at Camping WOK and we'd love to invite you to come over and join us for happy hour, possibly tomorrow (Wednesday)? There is a bar and restaurant just meters from Bijou, and the campground is lovely. Camping WOK is about 14 kilometers from the Bristol hotel, maybe 30 minutes by car depending on traffic. Our taxi yesterday was 42 PLN. You can reach us at [email protected], we'd love to meet you!
