It's a crazy world

Boy, it sure is a crazy world out there right now. Politics, religion, and now Covid. The three things you can't talk about because someone is sure to be offended. Can't we all just get along? It amazes me how closed minded many people are.

So while we're on the subject of Covid, the U.S. land border remains closed to Canadians. Despite the fact that the Canadian land border is open to Americans. And the Mexican land border has always been officially closed, but in reality it's totally open. You can't make this stuff up. Craziness.

Oh, but you can fly to the United States. That option has always been available. Why? Who knows. You can't try to apply any logic to it... it'll drive you crazy.

So, many Canadian RV'ers who would normally travel south to get away from the Canadian winters are going to be stuck in Canada for a second winter in a row. Some will simply put up with it, while others will find another way to escape. They have no choice but to fly somewhere. And that's okay, there are lots of countries open to Canadian tourists. There's really no need to spend another winter in Canada, you just won't be able to go somewhere warm in your RV.

Oh, don't forget that we still offer a 5% discount for Heymondo Travel Medical Insurance. Good for anybody up to age 69.

On another note, we had a visitor the other day. One of the guys from a Mexico RV Caravan that we led in early 2016 was passing through Ottawa and we offered him a place to stay for the night. There's lots not to like about facebook, but the one thing I like is that it's easy to keep in touch with people that you meet over the years.

Selfie with John.
The sun was bright and I almost cut myself out of the picture!

Lots of laughs and nice to see him again.

The cats are warming up to us. Enke, (the one who disappeared for ten days before we arrived) has always been friendly enough, but Sid is a bid hard to get to know. Ruth is the cat whisperer though and she's finally warmed up to Ruth enough to let herself be picked up...

Ruth, with Sid.
Sid seems quite happy with everything that's going on. Maybe it's better to be oblivious!

It's a rainy morning here so far today. We had hoped to go for a bike ride, but it's not happening this morning. It might clear up this afternoon, but it looks iffy. We were going to ride up to Osgoode to pick up my new credit card. The old one won't "tap" anymore, so I ordered a new one and it's waiting at the branch there for me to pick it up.

Blink Security Cam Systems. These are used, but fully functioning and tested. Great deal if you don't want to pay the full new price.

And in Canada...

    1. We are glad that you enjoyed that photo Connie. Sidney had just about had enough of being in my arms by that point though and was starting to want down. She is really starting to warm up to us now. :-)

  2. My relatives out west lost their home in the wild fires. They bought a place in Arizona a couple of years back. They've flown south to stay for awhile. He's US born and she is Cdn. Don't know if that makes a difference.

    1. It definitely makes a difference that he is American but there is absolutely no problem with them flying down, even though she is Canadian. As Kevin mentioned even through the whole pandemic, Canadians have always been able to fly to the USA. As Canadians, we just can't drive there which just doesn't many any sense!

  3. Some Canadians are paying to have either their car or RV shipped just over the border into the US.
They are going to fly down, pick it up & off they go!
I guess “where there is the will, they will find a way” applies.

    1. Yes, we know that some Canadians have done that with their RVs last winter and we would expect that there will be even more doing that this winter if the border to the US doesn't open up for Canadians crossing by land.

As you said, if there is a will there is a way. It is always pays to think outside the box. :-)

  4. Yup, it's very inconsistent. We have American friends who have flown to Italy twice this year (they bought a house there last year), but our European friends are still not allowed to fly to the USA! Definitely crazy! Although I'm sad for your fellow Canadians, guess that means more camping space for us Americans this winter. Cute pic of the cat whisperer!

    1. Yep, very crazy! The inconsistency of this whole COVID mess has driven Kevin nuts, lol!

I am really enjoying the cats. :-)

  5. I've never understood the no land crossing versus flying. I've also never understood living in a country where everyone wants to escape six months out of the year. But then again I live in Mexico where lots of people want to escape :)

    1. We have never understood it either!

It is funny how everyone thinks that grass is greener on the other side of the fence, :-)
