Just as happy in our motorhome

The house we're living in is a beautiful home on a beautiful property backing onto a forest. I haven't shown many photos out of respect to the homeowners. They may not want their stuff on display. But needless to say, most people in the world would be pretty happy to live here.

And we feel fortunate that this opportunity came along. It's been a great stay for us. And looking after the cats has been no trouble at all... in fact they each have their own personality and they're enjoyable enough to have around.

But despite how comfortable the place is, we are just as happy living in our little tiny motorhome! And in fact, we are actually happier in our tiny house on wheels because we get to travel at the same time.

Two weeks from today, we will be doing just that. Can you tell we're excited??

Yesterday, my mother invited us for lunch. Her building was doing a BBQ for the residents, and it turned out to be a beautiful day.

Outdoor BBQ.

I had lunch with five ladies!

Two of my mother's friends actually read this blog on a regular basis. So it was nice to get together and talk about travel. They have done a lot of travel in their own lifetimes. One was originally from Hungary, one was from Germany, and one from Canada but she lived in Nigeria, Africa for a couple of years.

After lunch, Ruth and I went for our power walk along the Ottawa River near my mom's place. Nice to have a change of scenery.

The Ottawa River
I think the water level is lower than I've ever seen it.

Looking across to the province of Quebec.

Ruth.

We walked down to Westboro Beach.

Swimming at your own risk.

This beach is run by the city of Ottawa. Signs up saying swimming at your own risk, which is as it should be. But I always think signs like that are funny. I mean, who's risk would it be??

Scenery along the way.

Our route.

We started off at a good pace, but we both had sandals on and this was the first time I had done any distance in my new sandals. By the half way point, I was noticing some sore spots and sure enough I ended up with a couple of blisters.

Grandson Cameron came over for a sleepover. Like any other 10 year old boy, he's pretty happy when he's playing video games and of course he gets a little spoiled with his allowed time when he's with Grandma and Grandpa.

We're watching all of the James Bond movies in order. Of course we've seen them all before, but it's been a while since we've seen some of the older ones. Yesterday we watched Diamonds are Forever (1971). Good entertainment.

And in Canada...

  1. The river is indeed VERY low down this end. They are holding it back above Temiskaming. Our beach at the cottage is completely gone and the banks eroding due to the high water and wakes from the many boats.

    1. It's weird we can never understand how or why they hold the water back like that but I guess they have their reasons.

  2. Sorry, I should have added that the cottage is above the Temiskaming dam.

    1. We figured that you must be living above the dam if you have higher water than they do down here in Ottawa. :-)

    1. He did have a great time with Grandma and Grandpa and we are looking forward to taking them both to the zoo! We are very fortunate to have one of each, just like you. :-)

    2. After having been in Africa and seeing the animals in the wild we don't like zoos so much but the Toronto Zoo is a great zoo and it is totally different when you are taking your grandchildren to one. We are going to have a fun day. :-)

  5. A house like that is a wonderful thing, but it does tend to stay in one place.

  6. You were in a beautiful area, and my old stomping grounds back when I went into the office. The pic of keg Manor gardens is where I often ate lunch and over tears obtained many plants for my own garden.

Hope you're both enjoying the last two weeks here and all of the Manotuck glory.

    1. I always loved that old stone house. It used to be close to where we lived when I was a very little girl. Up until I was almost 5 years old we lived on Churchill Avenue and then on Cole Avenue. Looks like you will have obtained quite a few plants from that garden, it really is such a pretty spot!

We have wanted to have you over for afternoon drinks but we have just been so busy and the time seems to be flying by way too fast that I am not sure it is going to happen now. If we can't get in another visit, I am so happy that we were able to meet you and have a fun couple of hours with you near the beginning of our stay. :-)

    2. Wow, you grew up in a beautiful part of town, and now with the changes of light rail, the entire area will dramatically change.

Time does fly when visiting, we understand that as well. If we don’t meet up again before you leave keep the Ireland idea on the back burner, the plan is still May but will see what the numbers look like.

      Cheers til next time

    3. I didn't really grow up there, only my first 4 or so years before we moved out to Galetta, that is where I really grew up.

We will see how things go, time is getting pretty short on time now. We will keep Ireland in mind, it is definitely on our list to visit just not sure if it will be next May or not. If we don't make it there, I am sure you are going to have a great time, especially with the wedding. :-)
