Heading further south... and some good news!

We're in a bit of a race with the weather. We definitely don't want to be caught in any snow, so the idea is to keep heading further south! And we've got some mountainous areas to go through, so we want to beat the snow through those areas before we can get to the coast in Albania.

And, both Bosnia and Montenegro have snow tire laws that come into effect on November 15th, so we need to be in Albania by then.

So we feel like we're rushing a little bit, because there's quite a lot to see here in Bosnia. But by the same token, the Albania border is only 475 kms (295 miles) away! So I'm sure we'll be fine.

We put on a few more miles yesterday.

Tunnel.

There was very little traffic.

And the road was in decent shape.

Scenery along the way.

We stopped at a possible overnight spot for lunch. It would have been fine, but it was really close to the main road, so we continued on to another option at the Hotel Balkana where they offer free overnight parking for motorhomes. Even free WiFi if you are parked close enough to the hotel. They are located on a small lake, and it's a really pretty setting. It only takes about 20 minutes to walk around the lake...

It was a really calm afternoon!

Small waterfall.

You can see Max parked on the left.

Fall colors.

And it was an okay spot for the night, but because it was a Friday evening, there were a lot of cars coming and going well into the night. Not ideal, and we were kind of afraid of that. During the week would likely have been better.

Today, we are going into the scenic small city of Jajce (no idea how to pronounce it!) where they have even more waterfalls. There are a lot of waterfalls in Bosnia!

Oh... can't forget about the good news. Ruth's father's house finally sold. For $475,000. A little less than we were expecting, but we didn't want the expense of possibly having to hold onto it through the winter. Anyhow, now it's done and the headache of maintaining it is gone! I think the family feels a big weight off their shoulders.

Decent deal on this Portable Tool Kit. Would be a great all purpose set to carry around in the RV.

And in Canada...

  1. What a relief to have Ruth's father's house sold! That "fall colors" photo is a framer for sure...not that you would have anywhere to hang it, but it sure is pretty! Nicely done, Kevin.

    1. Yes, it is a big relief to know now that the house is sold, we can now breathe easier knowing that that is all behind us now.

I love that picture that Kevin took! When I was looking at those trees, I just thought they looked so neat like that. Kevin did a great job on it and thanks for noticing. :-)
