But we're still confused about how this happened to begin with. I was almost convinced it was a stress crack from the twisting motion of the body caused by putting one wheel on a ramp higher than the others, but when I put it down off the ramp, the gaps on the damaged vent didn't change at all. It's very strange.
We are headed into Albania today, and I already know of a good hardware store that should have the sealer I need to fix it. Maybe they'll have a telescopic ladder as well. I've been wanting one anyhow. And they're still calling for a nice day tomorrow, so that will be my window of opportunity to get it repaired before the rains return on Monday!
Speaking of windows of opportunity, we managed to find a gap in the weather yesterday long enough to get out for a decent walk. We were just setting out when it started spitting again, and we hummed and hawed about whether to go at all. But it's only water. We grabbed the umbrellas and off we went.
In behind us is part of a new multi gazillion dollar road they are building here in Montenegro.
It's a huge project with lots of tunnels and bridges.
The only problem is... that it's a road that nobody wanted and it doesn't go anywhere! That's not entirely true of course, but it turns out that the whole thing is a mess caused by the previous government.
There is lots of info about it online... https://www.euronews.com/2021/05/07/the-billion-dollar-motorway-leading-montenegro-to-nowhere
What a mess.
We followed a path on the opposite side of the river.
Looking across at Max.
The two other motorhomes are from France.
Someone thought they could live under the rock?
I hope that's not what's holding the ceiling up!
The Morača River Canyon.
There are some underground streams emptying here.
Scenery along the way.
We came across some pomegranate trees.
Ruth picked a couple to take home.
We made it 4 kms, and then turned around to come back. So we did 8 kms (5 miles) in total. About 5 minutes from Max, it started to spit again, and by the time we made it back to Max it was raining. Our timing was very lucky!
Ruth made chocolate chip cookies last night!
My favorite!
So, we are border crossing into Albania today. After having spent three months there in the spring, it almost feels like going home!
Oh, by the way, I put a permanent link on the upper right hand side of the blog to the 5% off deal for Heymondo Travel Medical Insurance. Several people have asked about it, so it's now there for good.

Big 2000A Portable Jump Starter Battery Pack... winter is coming!
And in Canada...
Pomegranate tree! How exotic. I guess I'd never really thought about what they grow on, but I do love them -- very cool. Your cover photo today is stunning! Even with the slightly less than great weather, it is still a very pretty place.
ReplyDeleteWe saw lots of pomegranate trees when we were in Turkey last year and a friend of our also had a tree growing in the yard in Mexico.
DeleteThe color of the water and the neat rock formations that made up the canyon just made the view beautiful. I love seeing rivers like that. :-)
I also hope those sticks are not intended to keep the Cave Monster in his lair.
ReplyDeleteWell they haven't been broken yet so I guess they must be keeping that cave monster in, we certainly didn't see an escaped one when we were out for our walk, lol!
DeleteI'm thinking he saw your every move...LOL
DeleteYep, we probably even walked right him, lol!
DeleteHoping to travel through Albania and Montenegro on our way back from Greece later this year, when entering Montenegro I have read that you have to register with the police,do you need a campsite address, we will be travelling around so I'm not sure how we go about this registration, any advice would be much appreciated, thankyou
ReplyDeleteWe were never asked for any information as to where we were staying when we crossed the border into Montenegro but if they do, just give them the name of a campground/hotel along your route whether you are staying there or not.
DeleteAt the border they asked for proof of vaccination or negative PCR test, our passports, vehicle registration and insurance and that was it. I hope this helps. Enjoy your time traveling through these countries we really love Albania and I am sure we would feel the same about Montenegro but the weather unfortunately was terrible when we were passing through so we didn't see much of it but what we did see was beautiful.
When we drove to Podgorica (the day after you guys left I think) we suddenly saw a massive new bridge with the flag of Montenegro, the new highway indeed. But last month Freya saw a picture of the bridge on the internet and geuss which country is funding this project?
ReplyDeleteThe Chinese are funding the new motorway with all it's bridges and tunnels except at the moment it is the highway to nowhere! It is definitely impressive but it does the people no good at all. :-(
DeleteAh yes you guys know already who funded this road. Yes the Chinese they are everywhere. When I saw the bridge and the tunnels I thought...they have monet for this?? And then I saw the Chinees where behind this and then it all made sence.
DeleteTourist will never take that route because the drive on the old road is so much more worth it. Following the canyon the whole time...it was gorgeous.
But yes not good for the locals.
They truly are everywhere. When we were in Arusha, Tanzania they were there investing money in business and building buildings. Apparently they have a pretty good relationship with Tanzania.
DeleteSome tourists will take the highway but you two and us, who love adventure won't. :-)
