We ended up at an interesting spot!

We had a stretch of decent weather the last few days. Highs around 17C (63F) and lows around 10C (50F) which is pretty typical for this time of year in this area. Certainly not tropical, but not cold either.

But they were calling for some steady rain Sunday night through Wednesday, so we figured we had better find somewhere to ride out the bad weather.

So we drove a bit further south to town of Kyparissia where we stopped and went out for a walk along the coast.

It looks like it wants to rain, but it never does.

Looking back at Kyparissia.

We like these kinds of beaches.

There were three or four of these pretty benches all painted differently.
We couldn't believe the graffiti criminals hadn't got to them!

I had read about an interesting overnight spot on the park4night app.

A young couple from Germany had bought an old restaurant property on the coast and were turning it into some kind of combination campground/motel. It's nowhere near ready yet, but as van campers themselves, they figured they might as well offer people a spot to park even if it's not ready. For €10 a night for the first two nights with electric and water and toilets and then it drops to €5 a night after that.

We got there and were surprised to see it fairly busy. There are three other rigs here. Everybody really friendly, and they welcomed us and showed us around.

Surprisingly, we don't come across too many people our age. Most of the other van/motorhome people we see are in the younger crowd, some even have children traveling with them.

So, we're plugged into electric because there won't be much sunshine the next few days. The old restaurant has a huge open covered area that might as well be outside, but it has a roof... so you can still be "outside" even if it's pouring rain. And although it's supposed to be wet, the temperatures are still decent.

View out our side door.

We got ourselves set up and then went for a walk. The area is also good for bike riding, so hopefully the rain will hold off enough that we can get the bikes off.

I think they built this road too close to the sea!

This castle is supposed to be interesting.
We'll make our way over there at some point.

Sunset across from where we are parked.

Another day gone.

Here is a map of our approximate route so far since we crossed the border into Greece...

Woke up this morning and still no rain. It looks like it wants to, but now they are saying not until after lunch. Hopefully it will hold off.

  1. Did you feel any rumbling from the earthquake that hit Crete?

  2. Nah. They put the sea too close to the road.

  3. Amazing pictures of the sunset. I think the older generation from Western Europe that have a campervan won't take it that easily to Greece in winter time.

    1. Thanks, it was a great spot for watching sunsets.

Lol, most of the people that we meet were almost all younger people, I don't know where the older ones are hiding out!
