Kamp Alani near Antakya, Turkiye

Laundry needed done, and holding tanks needed emptying, so we decided to go to a campground for a couple of nights. I found one on iOverlander that was surprisingly not listed on park4night. It also got great reviews on Google Maps, so we headed over there Thursday morning.

Esenbahçe Kamp Alanı is located only 7 kms (4 miles) from the city, but we chose to do the 20 km drive around the city, rather than through it. And I think that was a good call, sticking to main roads. You never know what kind of narrow roads or traffic congestion you might come across going through the center.

Yesterday's drive 20 kms.

Yikes. I hope Humpty Dumpty wasn't sitting up there!

Notice the motorcycle in front of us in the photo above? The young couple on the motorcycle had passed us earlier. It turns out they are the ones that own the campground. We got to the entrance, and they came over to let us know we were at the right place. He speaks a bit of English, enough to have a conversation, but his wife does not speak any.

Max is the only one here.

They got us set up with electric and WiFi. Not that we really need either of them, but we can put our fridge on electric and save our propane. Also, it's still nice to be able to use our electric heater to take the chill off in the morning although spring is definitely in the air and things are starting to warm up. And we'll use the unlimited WiFi to do some updates to our laptops and other things that most of you take for granted.

I hadn't seen anything any reviews that mentioned laundry, but they said we could use their personal machine inside the house since it's still winter season.

Really nice couple recently married and in their twenties. They have this small piece of rural property by the river and they turned it into a campground and picnic area. They grow some vegetables and have a small wheat field and make their own bread and have chickens and ducks and a few sheep.

They have a tenting area under the orange  and lemon trees, and a nice level spot to park 5 or 6 motorhomes and caravans.

Cost in March of 2022 is 120 lira ($10.15 CAD, $8.10 USD) per night, everything included.

Right beside this small river.

Max, parked at GPS 36.22573, 36.09402

So we will stay here and relax for at least two nights, possibly three. Max needs a good cleanup, and we'll get the laundry done and go for a walk or two.
