Time to move on

We've been here three nights now, and although it's a nice spot and it would be easy to stay another night, we're thinking we'll move on today. We want to be up in the mountains to visit with friends on Monday, and it's still 350 kms (217 miles) or so away.

A slightly overcast day, although pleasant enough, and we still managed to get out for a walk in the area.

And, I also finished giving Max a bath. He was overdue!

Max is looking pretty spiffy now!

We took off for a walk around town yesterday and ended up on the lake shore.

The local cemetery.

The old church is being restored.

I think they waited about 50 years too long though!

We are headed down to that lake in the distance.

Getting closer.

Some kind of old route marker?

Scenery along the way.

Lake Suhaia.

Edelweiss Guesthouse.

In the evening, we sat inside and had a couple of drinks and a few rounds of the LCR game with our host Gabriel and the Ukrainian family. Lots of laughs.

He had a bottle of Black Velvet.... imported from Canada!

Woke up to beautiful sunny skies, so we're going to get packed up and hit the road. Heading towards the city of Craiova.

  1. As you travel North in Romania you might consider driving the Transfagaran Highway that goes thru the Mountains. It was built by the Communist leader to move the military quickly in Romania. Look up the images and it may make you want to do the drive.

    1. Trust us that was already on our list the last time we were here in November 2026 but unfortunately we were too late in the season and it was closed and this year we are here too early and it is still closed. It normally doesn't open until late May or sometime in June, to give you and idea, it didn't open until June 28th last year! There is also the Transalpina and it is the same story with that route as well. :-(
