This time, we went on a bike ride to a couple of waterfalls, and then parked the bikes and hiked in the rest of the way. It turned into quite the hike!
First stop along the way was this pretty little church...
Surprisingly, the front door wasn't locked but there was nobody there. So we went inside and had a look around.
Pretty colorful interior!
Heading into the forest.
We ended up parking the bikes just after this.
Scenery along the way.
Bridge crossing!
The water is so clear!
Me, at Cascada Lazaru Waterfall.
Cascada Lazaru was just okay, but the path continued on the opposite side of the river so we don't know if there was a better view further up. But we couldn't cross the river, so we don't know.
We retraced our steps to the path that went to the Cascada Maria Waterfall.
Ruth, contemplating another "bridge" crossing.
The logs were wet and slippery, so we crossed together holding onto each other!
Spring flowers.
At first, we thought this was Cascada Maria, but the path continued on.
Big rock sticks out above the river.
The path continued with cables to hold onto.
And rickety wood bridges.
And ladders!
When I got to the top of the ladder, I took a video of Ruth coming up behind me...
Cascada Maria.
Strange type of mushroom fungus thing.
Ruth, slowly making her way back down.
Me, on top of the big rock.
Having a seat on top of the big rock.
Practicing for some Norway hikes!
It was a good outing! The weather was perfect for hiking and biking. And we were the only people on the trail.
In the afternoon, I did some more Norway research. Max needs to get a transponder for the toll highway system in Norway that is linked to the ferry system. Ferries are expensive, and there are a lot of them. So it turns out that if you get a toll transponder and link it to the ferry system, you can save 50% on some ferries. Otherwise, if you don't get a transponder, the system will photograph your vehicle licence plate and send the bill to the registered owner. That's fine, but it's an inefficient system, and you pay the top price.
Normally, they can mail the transponder to you in advance but we won't be stopping at our dealer in Germany until we are finished our Norway trip so we don't really have a mailing address to use. But I found out that you can also get Norway transponders at the ferry line when we depart Denmark. So we'll do it that way.
Ruth made a delicious red thai chicken curry for us all last night.
Heading out to another waterfall today!

I took biology in High School. Didn't pass.
Lol, I think you and Kevin took the same biology class in high school!
DeleteThat looked like a fun adventure that gave you the exercise you wanted.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
It was a fun adventure, a little more than we were both expecting but so glad that we continued ahead to see the pretty waterfall.
DeleteThe common name of that mushroom is the Scarlet Elf Cup.

Thanks Elaine, you saved me the trouble of looking it up when I go to label our pictures. Very interesting that it is edible!
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous scenery, but better you than me on the treacherous path up to the falls--geez!
ReplyDeleteWe were loving the scenery up here and having the path follow the creek was so pretty. I'm not sure that I could have done the climb up without a little help from Kevin but I am glad that I did it.
DeleteWow, that looks like such a fun bike/hike! Gorgeous scenery too! Did you see another human being?
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun bike ride and hike. I think the only people we saw were the ones driving cars on the main roadway once we turned off onto the dirt road we saw no one for the rest of the bike ride and while hiking to both waterfalls, it was lovely. :-)
DeleteBeautiful but I will pass on that climb LOL
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful! Without doing the climb, you would have missed the main part of the waterfall, there were times when I wasn't happy but with Kevin's help I managed it and was glad that I did it in the end.
Deleteyou are braver than me. I will skydive, zip line but that climb just freaked me out.
DeleteIf that freaked you out wait until we get to Norway!
