Engelsholm Castle

We actually slept in yesterday morning. Didn't get up until almost 8am! That rarely happens, but I guess we just needed the extra sleep. It sure makes the morning go by fast though... kind of a waste.

Still, we managed to get an hour or so driving in before lunch. And then another hour after lunch. We ended up near the village of Nørup and Engelsholm Castle.

Another pleasant day, with some sunshine and a high of about 21C (71F).

Wildlife bridge over the highway.

We were only on that main highway for about ten minutes. The rest of the time we took the back roads.

Scenery along the way.

Danish architecture.

We found a picnic area parking lot near Engelsholm Castle, and decided that would be a perfect spot to spend the night. We were joined by two other motorhomes who arrived after dinner.

Engelsholm Castle is now a private high school and the interior is not open to the public.

It was built in 1593.

On the other side of the lake is Nørup Church.
It was built in the 11th century.

Odd carvings on the pole.

And more wood carvings in the forest near the castle.

Looks like another pleasant day! A little warmer, with a high of about 23C (73F).

  1. What a striking castle! Too bad you couldn't see the interior, but at least you got to "camp" there. Nice, and looks like you've got some better weather, to boot.

    1. It was and what a cool place to go to school!

Well we had been doing better with the weather until we woke up this morning to overcast skies and some rain in the early morning hours. I think they are saying that more rain is possible throughout the day.
