Back to Alberta

We had a nice three day visit to the park, and the perfect weather continued yesterday for our drive to Alberta. We were off to the town of Taber where friends Barry and Jeannie had moved to. They had been in our Mexico RV caravan tour in the winter of 2018-2019.

We got going about 11:00am for the three hour drive.

It's a bit of a detour off our route to Calgary, but it also breaks up the drive a little bit...

Cabri Park to Taber, then back to Calgary.

Yes, there is some oil in Saskatchewan.

Dried up salt pond.

How did this old car end up here?

Out on the open road.

And onto the Trans Canada highway.

Welcome to Alberta.

Deer by the side of the road.

We stopped in Medicine Hat, Alberta for a quick lunch and filled the gas tank. This Jeep Grand Cherokee rental is nice to drive, but it's a bit of a pig on fuel. In fact, our European motorhome Max gets the same fuel economy! Fortunately, fuel prices seem to be coming back down a little, and we filled up at $1.40 CAD per liter ($4.12 USD per gallon).

Arrived at Taber mid afternoon and had a nice visit with Barry and Jeannie.

Ruth and Jeannie.
No, Jeannie is not a two fisted drinker! She was just holding Barry's beer.
Barry bought a box of Corona to remember Mexico!

Steak, salad, and devilled eggs for dinner.
Jeannie remembered that I love devilled eggs.

Barry, in his model railroad train room.

Train wreck!

We had a nice visit, and this morning we are off to Calgary, which is about another three hour drive.

  1. The wide open landscapes reminds me of Australia, drive for days through rich agricultural lands growing enough to help feed the rest of the world.

    1. We haven't been to that part of Australia yet but I am sure we will one day! Definitely a lot of crops here as well that are being sold and shipped worldwide!
