I think if we lived here I'd buy a season pass!

We were trying to find something different to do with the grandkids. We looked into whale watching, but most of the tours leave from the area west of Digby and it's too long of a drive to do there and back the same day. We also looked at go karts, but the only facility is near Halifax and it's closed for renovations.

Until we came across this...

The Ontree Aerial Adventure Park.

And it was located only about a half hour drive away near Windsor, Nova Scotia. Perfect! We were all excited so we got there right when it opened at 9am.

They say it's the largest park of its kind in Canada. There are over 60 zip lines, and 18 different high level rope courses. Something for everyone, beginner to expert.

But it's not cheap! Adults are $50 CAD ($38.50 USD) each and the kids are only $5 cheaper. Not bad if you're going alone, but it adds up quickly for a family. And you need to supply your own leather gloves, otherwise they will sell you a cheap pair for another $5.

Then, they set you up with your harness and safety gear.

All suited up and ready to go!

Once you've had the safety talk and completed the training course, you're on your own and you head out to the courses. Your three hour time limit only starts once you've completed the training.

Cameron, ready to go!

Sadie, Ruth, and Justin ready for the first big zip line.

Cameron loved all of this and had no fear. He was definitely in his element with this stuff. Sadie was a little more hesitant and it took her a while to get up the nerve for the first big zipline. But she did it and after she got the first one out of the way she was good to go.

Here comes Justin.

Here comes Sadie.

Ruth, on one of the obstacle courses.

Looking down on Sadie.

Cameron wanted to do some of the harder stuff, so he and I separated from the others to try some different courses.

Everything Cameron is doing, I had to do too!

Fun and games... and really good exercise too!

Some of the courses are for age 8 and up, some are for age 13 and up, and some are for age 16 and up. I wanted to try some of the age 16 and up courses, but they look pretty tough and I doubt I would have been able to complete them. You're harnessed in, so if you fall you won't die, but you could get bruised up a bit! As it is, I ended up with sore hands and one minor rope burn. It was fun though! We all had a good time and the young staff working there was really good at rescuing people who got stuck.

Sadie ended up stuck in the middle of one of the higher zip lines. She's just not heavy enough to carry herself through to the end. One of the girls had to run herself out there to rescue her. It was pretty high up, and I don't think Sadie particularly enjoyed that experience!

Here's me trying the age 16 and up climbing wall.

I made it over to the middle board, but it was really hard.
I fell off, but the harness safety rope automatically lowers you to the ground gently.

Too bad daughter Lindsey wasn't there. She's driving out from Ottawa on Wednesday. But the rest of us had a blast and I'm sure it's something they'll do as a family. In fact I'd like to go back next time we're here! I think if we lived here I'd buy a season pass!

Back at the house, we had  Justin's brother and his family over with their kids. Right across the street from the house is a big corn maze. It's not officially open yet, but Justin knows the guy who owns the farm so we can go over whenever we want.

Ruth in the corn maze.

Not sure what's on the go for today, but it looks like the rain has started. We had a nice stretch of summer for a few days though!

    1. It was a blast! We really did have a lot of fun. It wasn't too scary because you are harnessed in but then again we didn't do any of the really hard courses so we might have thought a little different had we tried doing one of them, lol.
