We finally found summer!

One thing you can pretty much count on is that early August in Saskatchewan is going to feel like summer! Yesterday was a high of about 30C (86F) but with very low humidity. It was just a beautiful shorts and t-shirt summer day! And today they are calling for more of the same, but a little bit warmer.

We went out for breakfast yesterday morning. The guy running the canteen here at the park makes a pretty good meal, and so we splurged on breakfast.

It's actually the first time we ever paid for a meal here at the park. Of course when we were living here we had our own kitchen so there was no need to eat out. But we're kind of feeling like were on holiday right now!

Omelet, home fries, and toast.

Not bad, for $9 CAD ($7 USD) each!

Then we went for a walk around the park. Stopped to talk to several people along the way, so it wasn't really a walk for exercise... it took us about two hours to do the circular route. A few different things to see along the way as well, with a couple of new washroom buildings, and the big project that they have on the go which is the building of the new marina.

This project was in the paperwork stage when we worked here. So much government red tape to get something like this accomplished, with engineers and lawyers involved.

They had to dredge out this whole area.

The posts are sunk for the docks.
They will be installed next spring before the water rises.

This must be a Saskatchewan thing!

We sat out in the shade with some friends in the afternoon and just enjoyed the day. I was offered a Dill Pickle Beer, so I tried one out. It was okay, but not something I would rush out to buy! Pretty heavy on the dill pickle flavoring.

And then we were invited for hamburgers, so that was nice too. Not sure what's on the go for today, but I think there will be some relaxing involved!

    1. It is nice to be back for a visit for sure! The last time we were at the park was in August 2019 when we returned from Australia. It was fun to catch up with our friends here and see the changes that have been going on at the park since we last worked there.

  4. I read recently that pickle juice is the flavor of the summer! It is being added to all sorts of things, mostly snack foods. I have yet to sample anything with it, but I'm not really a pickle person, and it's mostly added to things I wouldn't eat anyway. I would try a sip of dill pickle beer, but I feel sure I wouldn't rush out to buy it, like you!

    1. Other than dill pickles the only other thing that we know that tastes like them are dill pickle chips that have been around since we were kids! I think this is the first time that we have heard of anything else tasting like them. I wonder if they have come out with dill pickle ice cream yet, lol!

    2. You bet they have! https://www.tasteofhome.com/article/pickle-ice-cream-is-a-thing/ When googling for that, I also saw that there is pickle flavored vodka, and that's just the tip of the pickle! ;-)
