Back together with Glen and Steve

Cousin Beryl cooked up a nice English breakfast for us... bacon and sausage and eggs and beans and toast. Nice to set off on a full stomach, and we wouldn't need much lunch.

Our bus to Leeds left at 10:15am, but that gave us a few minutes where she could drive us around town for a bit of a sightseeing tour before dropping us off at the bus station.

But not enough time to take photos, so we'll have to come back to Hull another time.

Our Megabus to Leeds left right on time. I splurged and booked us the two front window seats on the upper level. Nice to have a view, but still not really much to see. Total cost was £6.80 ($10.30 CAD, $7.75 USD) each for the hour and a half ride.

Arrived at Leeds bus station and had a twenty minute wait for the local bus from Leeds to the village of Wyke. Cost for that bus was £2 ($3 CAD, $2.25 USD). Even though it's just a local bus, we had to go 71 stops, so it was slow going and took almost an hour to go 25 kms (15 miles).

Easily got off at the correct stop using Google Maps and location sharing to see where our friend Glen was waiting for us. She walked us over to their daughter's house where Steve was waiting.

Glen and Steve are the couple who got us into the motorhome lifestyle way back in 2007. We toured Mexico with them a couple of times by motorhome and we've met up with them in several locations around the world since then. The last time we saw them was in mid January in Greece, but that was just a quick visit as our paths crossed when we were going to Turkiye and they were coming out.

So this time, they are homeless once again as they have just sold their UK motorhome and are about to embark on a flight to Vancouver and then a 51 day cruise from Seattle to Sydney, Australia, which includes a trip around New Zealand. So they are staying with their daughter Claire and her husband Richard here in Wyke, who generously offered another spare room to us so that we could all have a visit together for a few days.

We're here for six nights. We'll be sharing meals, so Glen came with us to the grocery store to do some stocking up. Again, were pleasantly surprised by some real bargains compared to prices in Canada.

And then it was time for a walk! We were overdue for some fresh air and exercise, and there's a nice forest walk nearby.

The nearby St. Mary Church in Wyke.

Into Judy Woods Forest.

An old bridge.

I was looking for a date on it, but couldn't see anything.

Nice to be in the countryside.

Around the pond at Harold Park.

Kevin with the big wheel.

We did 8.6 kms (5.2 miles) in an hour and a half and it felt great to get some exercise.

Finished the evening off with a few games of Euchre. Girls against the guys which the girls won.
