Good news, and glorious views!

We'll get the good news out of the way first! The tax refund credit for our new laptops that we bought in Norway finally came through.

One of the reasons we bought our laptops in Norway was because we could claim back a credit of the big 25% tax rate there. It turned out that because of the forced involvement of a third party company (Global Blue) that supposedly makes things easier, you only get back a portion of what you should have got back. But it was still enough to make the final purchase price better than what we would have had buying the same items in Canada.

So the final total cost of my laptop was $788 CAD, and Ruth's was $676 CAD. We're happy with that, and so far we're totally happy with the laptops.

And the bad news? Well, there isn't any bad news to talk about today!

Ruth and I went for a 5 km (3 mile) power walk yesterday morning.

Out for our morning power walk.

Then after lunch Helen took us on a short drive over to a wooded area called Combe Hill Wood. It's a popular walking trail that leads over a ridge with beautiful views.

Starting to get some views.

This odd carved wood throne was sitting where you could admire the view.

And what a beautiful view it was!

Scenery along the way.

Somerset countryside.

The path led to this monument in the middle of the forest.

Admiral Hood Monument.
Built in 1831.

From the base of the monument, we could see the famous Glastonbury Tor in the distance.

Zoomed in on the tower.
The tower is all that remains from a 14th century church.

More scenery.

Another view of Glastonbury Tor.

In the evening, we met up with Ruth's other cousin Clive (Helen's brother) and his wife Lindsey at a restaurant and had a nice meal out. We've been doing a lot of eating out this month!

Tony had a big burger topped with onion rings!

Ruth and Helen each had the smoke stacked chicken.

I had the fish and chips again.
It was good, but there was almost too much. I couldn't finish the chips.

Tony and Clive still had room for dessert.
This dessert is called Eton Mess. And what a mess it was!
Eton mess is a traditional English dessert consisting of a mixture of strawberries or other berries, meringue, and whipped cream.

With full stomachs, we headed home.

We had a few showers early this morning, but things seem to have cleared up. A little chilly though, with a forecast high of 14C (58F). I think we're going to head down to the south coast today.

    1. We are really happy too because now it makes the buying of the computers in Norway well worth it. :-)

The food was really good and tasty! The Eton Mess did look nice and the way both Tony and Clive downed theirs it must have been really scrumptious!
