Pogradec is a popular beach town in the summer, even though the beach is on a lake and not the sea. Beach season here has pretty much passed though because Pogradec gets a little cooler by October whereas the seaside is still warmer.
The high yesterday was about 20C (68F) with sunny blue skies up until the clouds and wind came though late afternoon and the temperature dropped to about 5C (40F) overnight.
View from our balcony waiting for sunrise.
View in the opposite direction.
And the view around the corner.
Tony and Helen enjoying some sunshine.
It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
The house across from us is a duplex.
One side has been fixed up, but not the other.
After breakfast we went for a walk along the waterfront...
Paddle boats for rent.
It was nice and calm out there.
No, we didn't rent a paddle boat.
This is the view from the small pier.
Blue sky and sunshine.
Scenery along the way.
Beautiful day, but still a bit cool.
These paddleboats are cute!
Herbie the Love Bug paddleboats.
Beautiful rose gardens.
It's always good to stop and smell the roses.
This is a big water fountain that will be installed on the lakefront somewhere.
Back for more time on our patio.
We relaxed for a couple of hours in the afternoon. As I said earlier, the wind really picked up late afternoon, and the temperature dropped as a cold front moved through. We even had a few drops of rain.
I mentioned yesterday that we're on holiday. For us, that means doing a little more eating out than we normally do. We don't eat out much in expensive countries, so it's good to be able to take advantage of that luxury when we're in inexpensive countries.
We decided on a "fast food" place that got good reviews. But it had a sit down eating area. Not much in the way of beverages, but the guy said if we wanted something different we could simply go to the shop next door, buy what we wanted, and bring it back to the table. Just like in Mexico!
We ordered half a small chicken each and some Greek salad and fries.
Salad and fries have arrived.
Chicken... and more fries!
The total bill for the four of us including the drinks we purchased next door was 1,930 lek ($22 CAD, $16 USD). We walked out of there stuffed, and waddled back to the apartment.
Today, we are going to try to go to North Macedonia for a day trip. Pogradec is located right at the border, so we are going to go park at the National Park on this side of the border, then walk across the border to a nearby monastery.
