We went through a couple of villages where things were a little tight!

Well, we put in a good driving day on Monday. It poured with rain the whole time! We drove right by a few things that we would have normally wanted to stop and see, but there was just no point.

It was a good day to put on some miles. But when it came time to stop, things just didn't go our way.

Not many photos today. Tough to take pictures out the window, and especially when it's pouring rain!

Scenery along the way.

We are in wine country now.

And lavender.

And mud.
Lots of rain, and lots of very wet fields.

This part of the road was pretty cool with these huge trees growing on either side.

We passed by a couple of towns that were advertised as "mediaeval historical areas".

Another field of mud.

More grape vines.

We went through a couple of villages where things were a little tight!

We are purposely avoiding the main highways. First of all, all major motorways in France are toll roads. I've read that they aren't really that expensive, but it still might cost you €100 to drive through the whole country. And secondly, you really don't see much of the country fighting with all the transport trucks.

But the risk is that you end up driving through little villages where there might be height and width restrictions.

We ended up driving through here.
Good thing Max is small, as far as motorhomes are concerned!

We arrived at our first possible overnight spot. But it really wasn't suitable. We use a popular motorhome app in Europe called Park4Night. Sometimes even when you read the reviews, you end up somewhere that you might not like, even through the reviews are good. I guess it's because many people have different ideas as to what constitutes a good overnight spot.

Then there was another one a few kms on, but it was on the other side of a steep road leading up through a village and it was pouring rain and I didn't feel like walking up through the village to make sure Max would fit.

Then the next one had a detour in the village and we ended up going the wrong way out of town and having to find some way to get turned around on a narrow backroad and then making our way through the village while avoiding the detour. A bit of a circus, but we got it done!

Max, parked up at GPS 43.824741, 4.19576

Just outside of the village at a small park where there are allotment gardens and a playground. Nobody around.

Perfect.

We ended up with a nice sunset.

Yesterday's drive.

The rain is finished, and we woke up to blue sky and sunshine. Supposed to be a beautiful day with a high of about 14C (58F). But we are not going to linger. Looking at the forecast, we need to be in Andorra tomorrow afternoon or it's not going to happen. So we still need to drive for a couple of hours today.

    1. it was a great overnight spot, we had it to ourselves and it was so nice and quiet and to top it off we had such a great sunset.

Going through those tight villages is exactly why we wanted a small motorhome, we love Max! :-)
