Glad we stayed put!

It turned out that this area is exactly up our alley, and we're glad we stayed put for another night. Lots of exploring to do on foot... with hiking trails, caves, and waterfalls!

And it turned out to be a nice day as well.

We were just saying yesterday how nice it is to be able to take our time now. We don't have to be down to take the ferry to Morocco for another three and a half weeks, so when we find a spot we like, we can hang out for a little while.

We hiked over to the first cave and waterfall.

It's called Cueva de las Palomas.

Love this old gnarled tree.

Ruth, at the viewpoint.

We hiked down in for a closer look.

Ruth, inside the cave.

Me, with the waterfall.

You could almost walk right in behind the waterfall.

Looking down at the park and campground.
You can just make out Max parked up above.

Zoomed in on the cave and waterfall.

My map showed me another cave and waterfall about 1.5 kms away, so we hiked over there.

Looking back at the cave and waterfall, with an old finca ruins on the right.

Ruth, crossing the river.

We came across this smaller waterfall along the way.

And eventually our path made it to the other waterfall... but we were at the top of it.
Another km or so would bring us to the bottom.

Scenery along the way.

Looking down from the top of the waterfall.

A side view.

We hiked down and around to get to the bottom. There is a large parking lot, but it was closed and a guy was doing some maintenance work in there. The path went around that though, and nothing stopped us from getting to the bottom. You can tell it's a popular swimming hole in the summer.

Ruth at Cueva de Turche.

This big rock overhang looks like it could come crashing down at ay time.

Pretty waterfall.

I took a video for you...

So glad we're able to do these things in the off season when there's nobody around.

We are pretty close to the town of Buñol.

What a great day we had!

Today, we are up early and headed into the big city of Valencia. Lots of touring planned, so we better get going!
