If we ever settle down anywhere, it's going to be in a place that has palm trees!

We woke up at about 5:30am to an odd sound. At first, it sounded like a water drip, but upon closer inspection it was actually a clicking noise coming from our electrical converter under the seat.

As in Mexico, many of the campgrounds in Morocco don't have enough supply of electricity. So normally, the problem is low voltage. And I'm aware of the problem enough that I bought an electrical meter before coming here and I test the voltage when we arrive at a campground, and regularly throughout our stay.

The voltage in this part of the world is the same as Europe and the UK... anywhere between 220 to 240 volts is considered standard. When we arrived at this location, it was 224 volts and had been very consistent during our stay. Voltage that is too high or too low can cause motorhome electronic circuits to overheat enough they they need replacing.

Anyhow, I assumed there had been a voltage drop and I flicked off the main input breaker and went back to bed.

When we did eventually get up, I went outside to the outlet to test the voltage.

It was reading 302 volts!

I knew that Max's converter/charger has over voltage protection, and fortunately that had kicked in, shutting down the system.

There was a guy from another rig outside at the same time, and he was also aware of the problem. He said he would go tell the reception desk. In the meantime, we have loads of battery power and our propane (LPG) supply is holding up well.

They were calling for rain, but the forecast kept putting it off, so we went out for a morning walk. We were only gone an hour, but managed to get 5 kms (3 miles) in.

If we ever settle down anywhere, it's going to be in a country that has palm trees!

I wonder what this will look like in its next stage of life.

When we returned to the motorhome, I checked the voltage again.

It was back to 224 volts. So, no idea what caused the problem, but it was obviously fixed. And it's been fine ever since.

We did end up with a few showers in the afternoon. We have decent enough WiFi here, so I did some onward planning. Lindsey and the grandkids arrive a week tomorrow, so we want to be at Casablanca airport a week from today. I sorted out our route, and how much time it will take us between stops along the way so we know which day we have to leave here.

And, I did some planning on where we will be overnighting with Lindsey and the kids. Of course Ruth and I will be staying in the motorhome, but there is not room for five! So we will be staying at campgrounds that have some kind of other accommodation available as well. Fortunately, that's fairly common here in Morocco. We never make reservations when we're travelling on our own, but in this situation we have done so at a couple of places along the way just to be on the safe side.

Looks like the rain has passed, and we're in for a few nice days in a row! Heading out for another hike this morning.
