When we were here in 2017, Marrakech didn't leave a good taste in our mouths. In fact, it was probably the worst part of our visit at the time. So this time, we almost didn't come here.
But, there are definitely some interesting aspects of Marrakech that should be experienced, so we decided that Lindsey and the kids should see it.
Max is parked at a guarded shopping mall parking lot, about 2.5 kms (a mile or so) from where Lindsey and the kids have their guest house in the central area. So just after 10:00am, we set off walking to meet up with them.
More camels!
These horse and carriages are common.
The minaret of the big mosque.
Notice that it's another beautiful day!
We met up with Lindsey and the kids near the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square. We could hear the music coming from the snake charmers, and Cameron wanted to head over there right away.
Cameron loves snakes!
A Moroccan Water Snake.
The guy grabbed my phone and got some photos of Cameron and the snakes. He snapped about 20 photos and a video.
Pit vipers, cobras, and Cameron in the background.

Seeing as we are playing tourist, the girls wanted to get henna tattoos...
Sadie was up first.
Done!
Lindsey's.
Somehow, we forgot to get a photo of Ruth's!
We spent an hour wandering around and then went for lunch.
Ruth and Lindsey split this big bowl.
Ruth went back to their room with Sadie and relaxed. Sadie is still not 100%, (but does seem to improve daily) and wanted a nap, so Lindsey, Cameron, and I continued on. There is just so much to see.
Cameron found a Mexican sombrero... in Morocco!
He liked the traditional Moroccan farm hat!
This guy's shop really was funky and cool!
Cameron likes trying on the different hats.
We went back to meet up with Sadie and Ruth at their guesthouse and we just relaxed for a couple of hours. Then headed out to find some dinner. Much busier in the evening, with a lot more local people. We found a roast chicken place and split a whole bird with fries.
Then Ruth and I did the walk back to Max.
Beautiful hotel along the way.
Here is Cameron's description of yesterday's events...
I woke up at 8:00am and we went for breakfast. Lots of stores. It was called Wdarna where we had our breakfast. I had a crepe with hot chocolate. Then we moved to find Grandma and Grandpa. At the fruit stores, we bought smoothies. Yum!
We went with Grandma and Grandpa to the shops. Along the way, we found a guy in the middle of town with a cool clarinet and he was controlling a cobra and a pit viper and an inland taipan. I held one. We went to the stores again and I bought a magic box, an Mbappe t-shirt, and some shoes.
Today, we drive to Casablanca Airport. Their flight is early tomorrow morning, so we got a hotel for them near the airport, and hopefully the hotel will allow us to park in their lot.

Lunch looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteIt was a really good lunch and I am so glad that Lindsey and I decided to share because there is no way either one of us could have eaten a whole bowl on our own.
DeleteThat looks like a fun day to me! I love the henna tattoos -- and the hats!
ReplyDeleteIt was a fun day, I am just sorry that Sadie couldn't have enjoyed more of the day but at least she got to enjoy some of it and got her henna tattoo, which she really liked.
DeleteCameron writes a great blog post! The food looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteHe did do a great post, so much so that we allowed us to post it because all the others he won't, he didn't even want us to read them so he must have been proud of this one. The food was good and it was filling too!
