We love the motorhome aire system in Spain!

Time zones can be very strange. Here in Spain it is light until almost 9:00pm now, which is really nice... but the sun doesn't rise until 8:17am! So we're getting up in the dark. And it makes you not feel like getting up, so when we do, half the morning seems to disappear.

We did mange to get our grocery (and beer and wine!) stocking up done though, and hit the road to a hiking trailhead not far from Algeciras.

Taken at 8:07am.

We parked up at the Valdeinfierno trailhead, had an early lunch, and went on the hike. It's only 5 kms (3 miles), but the sign said it would take 2.5 hours, which would be a difficult hike. No idea who made the sign, but it wasn't difficult at all and we did it in an hour and fifteen minutes!

The trail follows this stream one way.

It's really quite pretty.

But not difficult at all!

Me, on the trail.

But then, you have no choice but return the way you came, or take the dirt road.

Not really the most fantastic hike we've ever done, but we're feeling a bit out of shape and it was a good short hike to get started back into things.

Nice view with the Rock of Gibraltar in the distance.

Looking inland.

We probably could have stayed overnight at the trailhead, but it wasn't ideal... windy, and too many people coming and going. So we continued on to the town of Benalup-Casas Viejas where they have a free motorhome aire.

Muddy looking reservoir.

The road ahead.

Pleasantly surprised when we arrived. I was expecting it to be busier, but with room for about 20 vans and only three others there, we had lots of space. We love the motorhome aire system in Spain! It's so easy here, especially once you're away from the southern coast. Free (or inexpensive) parking, normally close to the town center, with empty and fill facilities, and sometimes even electricity.

We are going to explore the town today, and then stay a second night.

By the time we went to sleep, a few others had pulled in, and there were a total of nine vehicles overnight.

Oh, here's something for our Canadian readers. It's a pet peeve of mine that the big Canadian banks aren't paying much interest on savings. So I did some research into the best alternative options.

The online banks and the credit unions do slightly better. But the best I could find is an online bank called EQ Bank Canada.

They pay 2.5% interest on every dollar, with no fees at all. And a one year GIC is at 4.75%.

Also, if you open an account through this link, we both get a cash bonus of twenty bucks when you make your first deposit of $100 or more within 30 days of opening the account.

It's not much, but every little bit helps. Besides, that interest looks far better in my account than in theirs!
