We set off at 10:00am planning to do a 10 km (6 mile) return trip to a viewpoint. But we changed plans once we were at the top, and made it into a circular route that ended up being 13 kms (8 miles)!
It was a little rushed, but we did it non stop... never took a break other than stopping for a few photos!
On the trail, heading uphill.
Starting to get a view.
A big rock ledge.
And another one.
Me, enjoying the viewpoint.
Looking down on the village of Escalada.
We always like to do a circular route rather than retracing our steps, so I found a trail that went down to the village of Escalada, then follows the river back up to where Max was parked. It was 3 kms (1.8 miles) longer, but mostly level.
Pretty trail through the woods.
Never seen a plant like this before.
The Erbo River.
Almost back to Max.
We did 13 kms (8 miles) with 266 meters (900') of elevation gain in two and a half hours. That was a good workout!
Had some lunch, and then hit the road.
Scenery along the way.
Strange things that you see,
Gorgeous scenery on the drive down to the coast.
Approaching the city.
We weren't originally planning on visiting Santander, and I had mentioned that we're getting citied out, but there is a convenient motorhome aire where we had made arrangements to meet up with Steven and Linda from The Chouters. Sure enough, they were there waiting for us. Busy place, but we managed to find a spot for Max.
We sat and had dinner together, and of course there's always lots to talk about with like minded people.
Linda took an ussie and sent it to me.
Steven and Linda had a tour of Max.
The last time we bumped into each other was in Poland just before we picked up Max, so they had never seen him.
Today, we're going for a walk into Santander with them and find somewhere to have lunch together.

Nice price drop on the Ninja Mega Kitchen System.
And in Canada...
Fantastic views! Some look similar to the mountains near us by Laguna de Sanchez. Have fun.
ReplyDeleteWe did get some great views from that hike but we had hoped that it was going to take us up to the neat rock formations, instead it took us further up the river before taking us up and over the mountain, we found out later that there is no actual marked path up to the rock formations. :-(
