April Expenses - pretty much on budget!

The month of April took us from Seville to the northern coast of Spain. It was actually a great month. And, we fully expected it to be a fairly inexpensive month. At the end of March, I mentioned that our planned budget for April was $1,380 CAD ($1,018 USD).

That's not very much money nowadays, and while we were ambitious with that goal, we came pretty close!

Here's our approximate route through Spain during the month of April...

We spent a total of $1,516 CAD ($1,118 USD, €1,014) for the month.

Here's how it all broke down... (the following figures are in $CAD)

Fuel: This is the category we were off by the most because we decided to fill up in Salamanca where fuel was really cheap. So we spent $236 on fuel for the month, but we will now spend less in May in this category.

Ferries and Toll roads: Zero.

Propane: Max's LPG was pretty much empty when we arrived back to Spain from Morocco, plus we've filled up once again since. We're still pretty full at the end of this month, but we'll top things up again before going to Ireland next week because it's cheaper here. We spent a total of $78 on propane.

Grocery: Pretty much on target at $524. Considering we only ate out twice during the month, this is really good.

Meals out: A total of $70 CAD.

Alcohol: Beer and wine are cheap in Spain, and we drank a lot of it! Total of $158 CAD!

Miscellaneous: $180 total. Ruth bought some shoes and clothing ($58), we did laundry a few times ($32) and of course had to keep in touch with you all through cellular internet ($68) as well as a few other minor items.

Entertainment: We are a cheap date. We did a ton of free hiking, and spent $12 to go up the tower in Salamanca.

Overnight: We spent $24 on overnight accommodation for the month.

Motorhome: Despite the fact that it was paid for last year on an annual basis, we expense the $235 CAD that we spend on Max's registration and insurance on a monthly basis to give more accurate representation of our costs.

Travel: Zero.

So, a total of $1,516 CAD ($1,118 USD, €1,014) exploring Spain from south to north for the month.

For May, we have a budget of $2,650 CAD ($1,950 USD, €1,750). The ferry to Ireland is quite pricey, plus we're going to a wedding and taking a short hotel holiday during that time.
