Another beautiful coastal hike

We sat by the sea and had our hot drinks and breakfast, then headed off on a hike to the Old Head of Kinsale lighthouse. 

Once again, a beautiful morning, but we could see some clouds rolling in and they were calling for the wind to pick up.

We had a nice blue sky looking out to sea, but inland was quickly clouding over.

Old Head of Kinsale.

Unfortunately, we learned that the Old Head of Kinsale is private property. I knew that it was a golf course, but it's only accessible by members and their guests. Oh well.

This was a lookout tower dating back to the 15th century.

The cliffs on the right side had lots of sea birds.

The Lusitania was sunk by a German U-Boat on May 7, 1915 about 18 kms (11 miles) off the coast at Old Head. Within 18 minutes, the ship sank. 1,198 people were killed, and 761 survived.

By the time we got back to Max, the wind had picked up and we decided to head inland to the village of Kilbrittain.

We found a nice picnic area beside the main road. A little bit of farm traffic during the day, but quiet at night.

Had some rain late evening, and it looks fairly overcast today.

Today, we're doing a short 4 km forest walk before we leave here, then headed to the town of Clonakilty.
