Instead, we're going to make our way back to Dublin by mid July and take the ferry from there to Holyhead, Wales.
We're hoping to meet up with Ruth's cousin Helen and her husband Tony in Wales. Regular readers will remember that Helen and Tony have joined us on our travels a few times in the past.
Then, we might be having a younger visitor join us in early August. Grandson Cameron (age 12) might be flying across the pond to travel with us on his own for a couple of weeks. We're still figuring out the logistics of how this might happen.
So, with a plan to keep moving, we drove exactly 10 kms (6 miles) to Wine Strand where we found another great overnight spot!
We did stop once along the way to do a short cliff walk...
Gorgeous scenery.
Ruth, with the Blasket Islands in the background.
Me, with a different angle.
Ruth, and the Dingle Peninsula scenery.
Scenery along the way.
We drove through the village of Ballyferriter.
Max, parked at GPS 52.180625, -10.3868028
We were joined later in the evening by three other vans.
The view out our side door.
We went for a short stroll around the area.
The local beach is pretty.
Still too chilly for us, but there were quite a few swimmers who showed up later in the day.
Ruth made a roast chicken with all the fixings for dinner!
Yum!
Too bad we didn't have any wine left to go with it. We've used up our stash of cheap Spanish booze that we brought with us. Looks like we're on the wagon until we make it up to Northern Ireland where it's a bit cheaper. Oh well... a little liver recuperation time is healthy!
On the road early this morning... we'll see if we can make it a little further!

I highly recommend the Wye Valley region of Wales...
ReplyDeleteWe have actually done some hiking in that area already when we did our housesit near Hereford, England back in September of 2012. Helen and Tony came to stay with us for a week or so and we went hiking there at least twice but we certainly wouldn't mind going back there again because it was a beautiful area with lots of hiking opportunities.
