We don't think we've ever seen something quite like that.

Our time in Ireland is almost up! What a great two months it's been. When the weather is good, Ireland is a motorhoming and hiking paradise. I guess that's why we've enjoyed it so much.

But, we've simply run out of time! We didn't see nearly as much of the northern part as we wanted to. And, the weather has changed dramatically compared to the fantastic six weeks we had from the time we arrived.

This is going to be a fun but busy week for us. Our U.S. based facebook group at Camping and RV Gear Deals is going to be super busy Tuesday and Wednesday due to Amazon Prime Day, and then Wednesday evening we take the ferry from Dublin to Holyhead, Wales.

Thursday, we meet up with Ruth's cousin Helen and her husband Tony for a long weekend of laughs. There might be alcohol involved! Looking forward to seeing them again.

Yesterday was a mix of weather. We ended up at a place called Windy Gap. It's just a viewpoint really, but with a parking area and a few short trails.

You would expect a place called Windy Gap might be windy. And there was a steady wind throughout the day, but we decided to stay and it was very calm overnight.

We did manage an hour or two of blue sky while up there!
Fantastic views.

There was some kind of shrine on the hill behind us.

It says Mother of the Hill above the gate.
There was a piece of plexiglass covering the gate, and the gate was locked.

I slid the camera lens between the bars.

Fantastic views in all directions.

Ruth, enjoying the view.

Looking towards the Mourne Mountains.

Again, there is a ton of beautiful hiking up in those mountains, but notice the cloud covering them. And again, while that photo shows some blue sky, it was generally raining on and off. The photo looks nice, but it would not have been so nice up there. Today is even worse, with steady rain in the forecast.

Max, parked for the night at GPS 54.320339, -6.042400

We did manage to get out for a short 3 km (1.8 mile) hike.

The view out our side window!

Another thunderstorm is threatening.

We had a fantastic sunset looking out the other side.

I went outside at sunset to get some better photos, and was surprised to see a sunset rainbow. Really weird, because although it had the rainbow colors, they weren't very vivid against the pink clouds from the sunset. We don't think we've ever seen something quite like that.

Striking sunset on one side.

And a pinkish rainbow on the other side.

Max and the sunset rainbow.
