Our life is a logistical nightmare sometimes. But, it's part of the life we chose, so we simply deal with it. And ultimately, this most recent issue will work itself out, although always at a cost!
We fly from Paris on Thursday August 31st at 1:10pm. So we need to be at CDG airport by around 10:00am that day at the latest.
We drop off grandson Cameron in Frankfurt on Saturday the 26th (two weeks from today!). So, in between those five days we need to drop off Max in Dulmen, and make our way to Paris.
Sounds easy, right?
The original plan was to drop Max off and take the train to Paris where we would spend a couple of days exploring the city because we've never been there.
However, the 26th is a Saturday and of course Sunday the dealership is closed. If we don't have an agreement to sell Max to somebody else, the dealership has already made us a decent offer to buy him back. Of course they need to see him in order to confirm the price. But the guy in charge of that is out of the office until Tuesday the 29th! Then we have a decision to make. Either take their offer, or leave him with them for sale on consignment, or store him for eight months and use him again for three months next spring and then try to sell again.
We are leaning towards taking their offer. The problem is that if we take their offer, they will want all of our belongings removed, including all the camping gear like table and chairs etc.
So, from Tuesday the 29th we need to get rid of that stuff, and make our way to Paris by Thursday morning for our flight.
I'm thinking I will book our train or bus travel to Paris on the 30th, and giving up on seeing any of the city itself. Which may be okay since we arrive back in Paris on October 15th and might have time then.
Decisions, decisions.
Anyhow, yesterday we made our way to the town of Wellington where we met our house sitting hosts Julie and Lane, and their two spaniels, Lola (5) and Elsie (1).
Lola and Elsie.
They LOVE playing with their ball.
Lola is Elsie's mom.
Me with Elsie.
Lola.
She's such a pretty dog.
And they're both so friendly and fun. They would play with their ball non stop if you would throw it for them. I took a video of Ruth playing with them in the back yard...
Looks like a mixed weather day, but we're off to take the dogs for a long walk anyhow. Hopefully we won't get rained on!

Adorable pooches! Yes, that sounds like a logistical nightmare. We've had a few of those during our nomadic years, so I get it. I am sure, knowing the two of you, that it will all work out.
ReplyDeleteLola and Elsie are wonderful to have around, we are totally enjoying our time with them.
DeleteYep, a bit of fiasco trying to figure it all out but Kevin worked on it yesterday morning and we now have a plan. :-)
As your time is short why not give your camping gear to a good cause, a charity of your choice?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure as good customers of the dealership that anything that is personal to you they could find somewhere to store it for you without too much of a problem.
Yes, that is one of our choices. When we get to Dülmen, we will sit down with Dominik at the dealership and figure out what our options are with both Max and the contents in Max.
