With a forecast high of 21C (70F) and sunny breaks, we took the short ferry ride across the bay at Dartmouth and made our way to the popular Goodrington Beach tourist area.
The ferry was a bit pricey, but it was a shorter distance and it allowed us to avoid some of the narrow roads leading back to the main highway.
Here comes our ride!
It cost £8.20 ($14 CAD, $10.50 USD) for the five minute crossing.
We found a great overnight spot using the "Your Parking Space" app and website. Only £4.25 ($7.25 CAD, $5.40 USD) for 24 hours. It was a bit tight, but Max fits into a normal size parking spot so it worked out anyhow. The location was great though.
We went for a walk along the coast heading south...
At 11:30am, it was still below 20C (68F) and cloudy.
People rent these little shacks to keep their beach gear in throughout the season.
We are not ones to sit on the beach though.
We like to get out exploring!
The coastal trail.
There is a tourist steam train that runs through here.
We went back to Max and had some lunch, then headed out again, this time walking north...
At 2:30pm, the temperature was up to 23C (74F) and there was a big patch of blue sky!
Lots of people on holiday finally enjoying some sunshine!
Dogs are allowed on this part of the beach.
Looking back.
Zoomed in.
Fairy Cove Beach.
Paignton Beach waterfront is a busy holiday area.
Colorful buildings.
By this point, the clouds had moved back in.
Big climbing structure for the kids.
Paignton Pier Arcade.
View from the arcade.
We are headed up to our housesit in Wellington today and had planned on stopping in to the small city of Exeter. But we're feeling more like a walk in the countryside, so we're just going to stop in for some groceries then move onto somewhere hopefully quieter.

And in Canada...
Wow, that beach is very busy! Too many people for my liking, but glad you got to feel some warmer air. Love the row of ice cream colored houses, very charming. Hope the house (and dog) sit goes well. Looking forward to photos of the pups!
ReplyDeleteIt was busy and it was fun seeing everyone do their own thing on the beach but we were good with just looking and watching. We had r3eallyy have no desire to sit there among them, in fact we really don't have a lot of desire to just sit at a beach even if it was empty, we would rather walk and just take it all the sights.
DeleteYou will see pictures of Lola and Elsie in our next post. They really are sweethearts and lots of fun. We are definitely going to enjoy our couple of days here with them.
