Arrived in Paris!

A little tired, but we are here! It's almost 2:00pm here and it's a bright sunny day. Not sure what the temperature is, but it looks very nice outside. We're still at the airport as I write this because we can't get into our Airbnb for another hour, and it's only a short bus ride away.

Everything went smoothly.

We had to drop the car rental off at Halifax airport just before noon, but then we had a 7 hour wait until our flight to Toronto. That doesn't bother us though, we find that time passes quickly in an airport, even a small one like Halifax.

We bought a travel backgammon game to keep us occupied.

We left our big backgammon board with Ruth's brother. This travel one is still good quality, and although it's still slightly large to carry around, I wouldn't have wanted anything smaller to actually play with. It wasn't cheap though, at about $55 CAD ($40 USD). But, we figure we'll get lots of use out of it.

Our plane arriving at Halifax.

We were on a WestJet flight from Halifax to Toronto. They said the plane was full, and when I had reserved the seats we got the last two available. And we were seated in different rows, both in a middle seat. Oh well. But then when we boarded, the window seat next to me was empty... and it stayed that way until the door closed. I asked the flight attendant if I could move over, and so I got a window seat with nobody beside me. The girl seated on the other side was also glad to have the extra space.

And then Ruth said that when she sat down, the other two people ended up being a couple and they asked if Ruth wanted the window seat, which she gladly took.

Arrived in Toronto with about an hour and a half to spare, so we checked into the Air France KLM lounge for some food and drink. We didn't have to pay because we get free lounge passes from our Scotiabank Passport Visa Card.

Then, it turned out that our Air France flight was going to be half an hour late departing, so we were able to squeeze in an extra drink or two. And because we were actually flying with Air France, they said they would alert us when our flight was boarding so we could stay right up until then.

The premium lounges are a very civilized way to waste time before your flight.

Then our flight from Toronto to Paris. It was just okay. There was one really loud obnoxious guy sitting a few seats over, and I think everyone had had enough of him by the end of the flight. You just have to shake your head. I slept for about an hour, and Ruth managed to squeeze in two or three hours.

Air France dinner with a glass of champagne and a personal bottle of wine.
Chicken and rice, with potato salad. The potato salad wasn't the best!

Arrived about ten minutes late, and we were whisked right through passport control. Stamped in, and they hardly looked at us.

So, we've got the afternoon and evening here at the same village we stayed in when we came through here at the end of August. Then our flight to Istanbul late tomorrow morning.
