One last look around the island

Well, we've actually really enjoyed our 8 days here on Langkawi Island.

Despite the fact that it's really been too hot for our liking! But, plus 30C is better than minus 30C any day of the week. We were watching most of Canada in the deep freeze over the past week, and we were quite happy to be baking here.

Our cheap accommodation was just okay, but coupled with a cheap car rental it really worked out well. Having the car was what made our time here as good as it was.

We had to be out of our room by 11:00am, so we said goodbye to our host and headed down to a laundry to do one last load so we would be starting out fresh in Cambodia. Then from there to a drive on one part of the coast that had gorgeous views. We had driven on this road before, but never stopped for any photos...

Beautiful!

We parked at the Resorts World Langkawi to have a look around.
They have a nice infinity pool.

From there, we went back to the beach bar we had sat at earlier in the week. They made a really nice mango mojito. We were really just wasting time because our flight wasn't until late evening. But what a pleasant place to waste time!

View from our table.

One last mango mojito.

From there to the restaurant that does the gluten free stuff. It's a bit pricey for the area, so it's a good thing we didn't find it when we first arrived. Our food expenses for the week would have been a lot higher!

We shared a plate of salmon, a big Mediterranean salad, and homemade gluten free bread.
With a beer, the bill was RM91 ($19.30 USD, $26 CAD).

From there, we went over to the marina. Again, just to wander around...

The original customs building, still in use today.

Some of the upper class boats.

Most of these boats showed registration in the Cook Islands.
Not sure what that means, if anything.

Local boats that take people out to the smaller islands.

Fancy lighthouse.

The last of our island scenery.

And from there to the airport! Later this evening, we are flying Langkawi to Kuala Lumpur... about a one hour flight. Then we have a six hour wait in Kuala Lumpur airport until our early morning two hour flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Next report coming to you from Cambodia!
