Down to the beach!

It's too hot during the day to get a decent walk in, so we tried getting out early. But even before 8:00am, it's not early enough. You still end up drenched in sweat. Of course that would probably happen in the middle of the night as well, since the overnight lows are still around 27C (81F).

Our condo is only a ten minute walk from the beach, so we figured we might head that way just to check it out and walk along the beach.

But unfortunately our timing wasn't very good and it just happened to be high tide. And at high tide, there isn't much beach at Hua Hin to walk on!

The water comes right up to the wall in many places.

So we ended up just walking along the roads. Not the most exciting.

We had been heading to what was mentioned as a viewpoint on my map, but we ran out of steam. Plus, it would have been an uphill climb (as most viewpoints are!) at the end. Still, we managed to get in over 5 kms (3 miles) before getting back to the condo. Good thing we have our own washing machine, as a clean t-shirt doesn't stay that way very long in this weather.

We headed out for lunch around 1:00pm, then walked back along the beach with the tide out...

We found a spot in the shade and sat and watched them for a while.

Some of them are really good and can spend a fair bit of time off the water!

Hua Hin is a winter resort area, with a lot of Eastern European and Russian tourists.

In fact, I think I read that there are over 1,500 Russian expats living here. So we do hear some Russian being spoken, but we've also heard a lot of French, and English (with British, and Australian accents).

Back at the apartment again, we didn't feel like a swim in the pool, but a good shower felt refreshing.

In the evening, we headed out to the night market. There are two near us, almost side by side... the Cicada market and the Tamarind market. But they're not the typical Thai night markets that we like that are done for the locals... these are tourist markets with the corresponding higher prices. Still, we managed to find one suitable spot for dinner at a decent price.

We found a stall with some typical prices.

By "typical prices", I mean that you can normally get a good chicken or pork street food meal anywhere in Thailand for between 50 ($1.40 USD, $1.90 CAD) to 80 baht ($2.25 USD, $3 CAD). Seafood or shrimp also available, but usually more expensive.

We each got the chicken and vegetable stir fry with rice, for 

60 baht ($1.70 USD, $2.30 CAD) per plate.
