Even though the property where we are staying is billed as being a beach stay, it's still a 2 km (1.3 mile) walk to actually get to the beach. There is a big open "forest" area between us and the beach with a lot of walking tracks, but none of them appear to actually lead to the beach. So we had to go along the road.
As we crossed the main road, this fellow started following us...
He was such a good boy. He even waited at the crosswalk with us until the light changed!
He seemed to just want to go for a walk!
As we got closer to the beach, he walked on up ahead, and we never saw him again.
We sat at this spot and watched the boats go by for a while.

There are many resort hotels on the eastern part of the beach, and the associated tourist activities.
Back at the apartment later in the day, we went through my father's old photos from his trip to Europe in 1954. Our regular readers will remember that we enjoy matching up his old photos by trying to put ourselves in the exact spot that he might have stood to take these photos at the time.
Well, dad was in Paris, France in June 1954, almost exactly 70 years ago. And we have 14 photos that he took at the time. It's going to be tough to try to get them all done in the two days that we have, but they are almost all at major tourist sites that we would have been going to anyhow. Eiffel Tower, here we come!
Our daughter Lindsey and granddaughter Sadie are flying out of Halifax direct to London this (Sunday) evening, then meeting us in Paris on May 1st.

ReplyDeleteWe are excited too. I have all the places marked out on our map and we should be able to get to them all, except possibly the three from the top of the Eiffel Tower. We couldn't get tickets ahead of time so all we can do is hope to get them when we get to the tower but we have no idea how long the lineup might be.
DeleteIt was nice having the dog walk along with us. He was a really sweet thing and we are sure that we would made a nice pet for someone, plus he was really street smart and seemed very gentle. Too funny about that picture being so similar to one of you.
