England has so many scenic walking areas!

It was another wet drizzly morning, however the forecast called for clearing around lunchtime, and that's exactly what happened.

We made a plan to have lunch, and then head forty minutes north toward the town of Arnside where there are a couple of National Trust properties with a lot of walking trails.

Monday was a bank holiday here in England, so it was quite busy and there were a lot of other people out enjoying the nice afternoon.

Nice start through the forest!

Yep, it's turning into a nice afternoon!

We walked up to the Pepper Pot Monument.
The small tower was built in 1887 for the Queen Victoria Golden Jubilee.

Beautiful views.

The trail went through this caravan park.

And passed by this ancient towerhouse ruins, built around 1450.

Lots of "Keep Out" and "Dangerous Building" and "Private Property" signs.

The original stairs going up.
And no, we didn't!

Very cool!

Green farm fields.

Another view heading up Arnside Hill.

I was experimenting with the wide angle format on the phone.

Makes for nice landscape photos.

Because your average laptop is landscape, if you click the photo to make it full size, it should completely take up your screen.

Beautiful.

Yes, we've had a lot of rain recently!

Looking over at the tower house ruins from a different angle.

So, we had a beautiful afternoon!

We ended up hiking 8 kms (5 miles) with a fair number of ups and downs.
