I told her she would never be bored.

Saturday afternoon we took a trip over to a nature reserve just west of Glastonbury. It's run by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, and sure enough there were a lot of birding people there with the big zoom lenses and birding scopes.

It's times like this that I miss having the big camera with the fantastic zoom lens, but to be honest, I don't miss it enough to go back to carrying something like that around. Totally happy with the camera on my smartphone.

So the bird photos aren't as good, but that's fine.

There are swans on the canals.

There are a series of medieval canals built in the 10th to 12th centuries. Partly to allow for drainage of a low lying land area that constantly marshy (and still floods today). Also, they think the canals were used for transporting rock blocks to construct Glastonbury Abbey.

Helen and Ruth on the old railway bridge.

Walking paths through the nature reserve.

Scenery along the way.

A cormorant.

Ruth, Benji, and Tony.

Goose.

Zoomed in. Not as good as the old zoom camera, but not bad.

It's a pretty area.

Another swan.

Crazy story of the life cycle of the glass eels.
Click the photo to make it full screen, then click again to zoom in.

As we were leaving through a nearby village, we saw this funny garden display.

So, today (May 12th) is a bit of a special day for us as we celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was 40 years ago today that I told Ruth she would never be bored if she married me, and I think we've pretty much lived up to that! I am also never bored!

Here's to the next 40! (That would make us 102... but you never know!)
