We got packed up and our ride arrived at just after 6:00pm. Tony's Uncle John had come down for the wedding, and they live north of Birmingham so were able to drop us here on their way home.
It's really tough to find budget accommodation here in the UK. But for last night, we found a Travelodge hotel just off the motorway where it was convenient for John to drop us off. At £32 ($40.65 USD, $55.30 CAD) for the night. That's about as cheap as you'll find here, and even that was a Sunday night special.
We were going to stay two nights, but the price goes up to £79 a night during the week! And really, its not worth that. The room is suitable for a night, and the bed was comfortable, which is really all you want, but it's pretty basic.
Typical 2 star hotel room.
The bathroom reminds us of a hospital bathroom.
But we slept fine, so that's good. We'll leave our bags here, and take a bus into Birmingham to pick up our car rental. then come back here to get our bags.
Then we've got another room booked about 60 miles north of here, but we'll probably take the back roads instead of the motorway so it's take a couple of hours and we'll see some scenery along the way.
This is where we are right now, and we are headed north towards Preston...
