So yesterday we went up to Cheddar Gorge to do their 5 km (3 mile) Gorge Top Walk.
But first, a big breakfast!
Lindsey, Sadie, Helen, and Ruth.
Our daughter Lindsey is a certified chef, and one of her specialties is eggs benedict. So she made breakfast for everyone, and granddaughter Sadie cut up the bananas, pineapple, grapes, strawberries, and blueberries.
Yummy!
Cheddar Gorge is the Grand Canyon of England. Not even a close comparison, but it's as good as it gets and is actually very scenic. Located about 35 kms (22 miles) from here.
Benji and Sadie.
The Cheddar Yeo River is an underground River that empties at the base of the gorge.
On the way uphill.
We actually set out to do an 8 km (5 mile) route, but we made a wrong turn at one point and by the time we figured it out it didn't make sense to go back. But we all enjoyed the route we did anyhow.
Starting to get a view above the road that runs through the gorge.

The Cheddar Reservoir, a man made lake, was flooded in 1935.

Looking back towards the town of Cheddar.
Goats!
Lookout tower.
Climbing up the tower.
The view from the tower actually wasn't as good as the view further up the gorge.
Coming down the steps from the tower.
Christmas shop in Cheddar Gorge.
Lindsey and Sadie deciding on ice cream.
They have 100 flavors! This is only part of them.
It was a beautiful day for a hike and it felt good to get the leg muscles working again.
