What's on the agenda for the rest of the month?

We've been really lucky with the weather this week, but it looks like we're in for some more typical "British" weather next week. Overcast with rain and a high of between 15c to 18c (60f to 65f). Oh well, it is only May after all, so we've had it pretty good.

Yesterday morning, we took Lindsey and Sadie over to the Castle Cary train station for their ride back to London's Gatwick airport.

It was a bit uncertain though, because the British train drivers have been on strike notice with unannounced walkouts this week so it's caused a bit of confusion. Fortunately, most problems are later in the day and Lindsey and Sadie's train showed up pretty much on time and they also made their connection at Reading for the next train to Gatwick.

Ruth, Lindsey, Sadie, and Kevin saying goodbye at the train station.

And, they are off.

So, what's on the agenda for us for the rest of the month?

The wedding is next Saturday, so we're just going to hang out here with Helen and Tony for the week. Depending on the weather, we'll try and get out on some day trips. The coast is only an hour south of here, so hopefully we can make it down to the seaside, in fact we might even do that this weekend.

After the wedding, we want to head up to either the Peak District or the Lake District. Still up in the air as to whether or not Helen and Tony might join us. Depends on the weather to a certain extent, so it may be a last minute decision for them. I've also applied for a cat sit opportunity through Trusted House Sitters, but if that comes together it's unlikely that Helen and Tony will be able to join us. We'll see.

While we're up in that area, we're hoping to get together with friends David and Mirsie for some hiking, and our friends Glen and Steve are currently on a cruise ship heading to the UK, and they will be visiting their daughter near Bradford, so we are planning on getting together with them as well.

Then the first week of June we're looking for another house sit somewhere, but nothing suitable has come up yet. Ruth has another cousin near Lincolnshire that she has never met, so we're looking for something in that area.

June 11th, we fly from London to Tirana, Albania for our ten day hike in the Peaks of the Balkans. I'll talk a little more about that over the next week with some details for you.
