Arrived in Albania - a little later than planned!

Tuesday was a travel day! We had to make our way from Birmingham, England to Tirana, Albania.

We left the hotel just before 9:00am and did the twenty minute walk to Birmingham Coach Station where we caught the bus towards London's Luton Airport. We had to transfer half way to another bus, and arrived at the airport right on time at 12:15pm. Cost for the buses was £21.85 ($27.85 USD, $38.25 CAD) each.

National Express (the major long distance bus company in the UK) was really efficient though. Our experience yesterday was perfect, and everything happened exactly the way it was supposed to.

We wasted the afternoon away at the airport because our flight wasn't scheduled to depart until 7:10pm.

We watched the planes coming and going.

We were able to check in and get through security on time, but as it got closer to boarding time the information board flashed "flight delayed" for our flight. First they delayed it an hour... then two hours. We were kinda hoping at that point it would get delayed three hours so we would get compensation again!

Our flight was originally scheduled to arrive late in the evening, so we really didn't need it to be later than that, but oh well. Such is travel.

We eventually got boarded at about 9:30pm. Turns out that we wouldn't have received compensation anyhow because the delay really was out of their control. It was caused due to flooding at the airport in Mallorca, Spain and the flight was diverted.

Our plane, getting ready for boarding.

Beautiful sunset over London, England.

Our flight arrived at about 1:30pm, and then they made us wait a long time for our two carry on bags which we had to pay to check because our small backpacks count as carry on as well. However Wizz Air is cheap to begin with. The entire cost of our flight including checking the bag was £33 ($42 USD, $58 CAD).

And then we walked to the hotel. We were a bit surprised by how much room rates have increased around the airport. More than double what we paid last time we were here.

Just a basic room, but clean and new. Cost was 6,300 lek ($67 USD, $93 CAD) for the six hours of sleep we were about to get! It was almost 2:30am by the time we got to bed.

This morning we will hop in a rental car, just for the drive up to Shkodra. Sunny blue sky, and calling for a high of 30C (86F).

Nice price drop on the Ring Everywhere Cam.

And in Canada...
