In preparation, we've been trying to do some walking every day, but it's tough to get in any hilly areas to work the legs. So we've booked a walk in Peak District National Park this coming weekend.
And we're doing it with a girl we met in Namibia, Africa!
Funny story...
We were in Namibia in December 2013,,, more than eleven years ago. I looked up the blog post where we met Antoinette. She was our couchsurfing host for two nights and we enjoyed staying with her.
We actually hadn't heard from her since then, but she contacted us a couple of weeks ago because she now lives near Stoke on Trent here in England and she saw that we were in the neighborhood. So she and Ruth have been communicating and setting up a two day hike for us this weekend.
Peak District National Park.
So we've booked ourselves into a private room at a youth hostel for Friday night, and again on Sunday night. We're doing a two day hike with Antoinette and her partner. Over 16 kms (10 miles) each day, with an overnight stay in another hostel, so it'll be a good primer for what we've got coming up later next week! Unfortunately, the weather forecast isn't looking great, with 50% chance of rain and a high of 12C (54F), but we'll just deal with it.
Then on Monday we drive down to Birmingham to drop off the car rental. We've got a room booked in Birmingham overnight, then on Tuesday we take the bus to London's Luton Airport and fly to Tirana, Albania.

And in Canada...
What will the temps be on your upcoming hike?
ReplyDeleteOur hike this weekend will be in the low to mid teens and the temperatures for our big hike in the Albania will be varied. In Theth where the hike will begin the temperatures look like they will be about 26 C (79 F) or so but as we climb up into the mountains the temperatures will go a little lower and of course at night they will be a lower as well..
