We set off at 7:00am from a totally peaceful night at the quarry, and ended up in a city park parking lot where a lot of people were walking dogs and getting their morning exercise.
After some breakfast and computer time, we set off on a 6 km (3.7 mile) walk around town.
Fredericton City Hall.
Stately old buildings.
Fredericton Regional Museum.
Fredericton is located on the Saint John River.
They have a nice cycling/walking path beside the river.
The Saint John River floods almost every year. Ruth is standing by the flood monument that shows the high water mark in the past. The record high was in 1936.
Pretty flowers.
We walked by the splash park.
Nice enough town, clean, and well maintained. But seemed kind of dull to me. Not really fair though, because it was a Sunday and everything was closed in the center.
We hopped on the highway for an hour and then stopped for a break and for lunch. Then on the highway again for another hour and a half to arrive in the town of Sackville (pop 5,300) where blog readers Judi and Ian live very close to the Nova Scotia border.
Scenery along the way.
On the main highway.
They've got a really nice spot in town. Prior to Covid, they had bought a motorhome when they were in Ottawa, but Covid got is the way of their plans and they ended up settling into Sackville and looking after her mother.
So now, they like to host other RV travelers through the website Boondockers Welcome. Because they are less than a days drive from Halifax, they get a lot of European travelers who have shipped their rig from Europe to Halifax.
Igor, parked for the night at Ian and Judi's in Sackville.
Ian, Judi's mom Mariam, Judi, and Ruth.
Had a great evening with them, and we even ended up sleeping in their spare room. As much as we love sleeping in the motorhome, it's a little cramped with the two of us on the jackknife couch, so when we were offered something more comfortable, we took it.
We have a scheduled departure of 9:00am this morning so that we can arrive at our daughter's place around lunchtime. Looking forward to getting there! Only 242 kms (150 miles) to go!
Yesterday's drive, 262 kms (162 miles).

And in Canada...
We love Canada, such a beautiful place. We were Boondockers Welcome in Mexico and the company shut down both Harvest Host/Boondockers Welcome in Mexico.
ReplyDeleteCanada certainly does have some very beautiful places, no doubt about that!
DeleteThat is a shame that they shut it down in Mexico. Judi and Ian and just told us that we would be able to use our membership there. :-(
