Ingleside, Ontario to Fortierville, Quebec

We set off from Bob and Denise's place in Ingleside on Thursday at about 11:30am. Headed east towards Quebec City, although by that point, we weren't sure if we would make it that far, and it really didn't matter either way. 

Our only deadline is that Igor has an appointment with a garage in Nova Scotia on Tuesday morning to do the provincial safety inspection there. Yes, he already has one from Ontario, but the provinces don't talk to each other in that regard. Oh well... this way he will be twice as safe!

The only logical way from Ingleside to get past Montreal is to take the big busy heavy truck infested highway 401. Not our idea of a pleasant drive.

We took a route through Valleyfield, Quebec that runs south of the city of Montreal, avoiding most of that mess. Still, we had two sections that were backed up with traffic causing about twenty minutes of crawling along.

While stopped for lunch, I started looking at where we might want to spend the night. I use the app iOverlander in this part of the world, although if we get off the main highway we can often find places that aren't listed anywhere. None of the listed places that were along the main highway appealed to us.

But I found one that was a bit of a detour into the village of Fortierville. Just a municipal parking area, but that had three free spots available for self contained RV's.

I took the backroads to Fortierville, and it's so much more enjoyable. The four lane highways are great if you need to get somewhere in a hurry, but thankfully we're not in a hurry. The route to Nova Scotia is fairly straightforward using the TransCanada highway, but we're going to go off that route in a few sections for a more enjoyable drive.

Slept fine... very quiet overnight. 

Another hot day... calling for a humid high of 31C (88F) in Quebec City today so we think we're just going to avoid it. We would have gone into the old city for a wander around if the temperature would have been a little more reasonable, but we have been there before, so don't feel like we're missing anything.

No idea where we will overnight this evening. Just the way we like it!
