More motorhome renovation fun!

This part was actually not all that fun!

On Friday, our new kitchen faucet showed up. We were very limited as to which faucet we could buy because of the angle of the body of the van where the kitchen sink is located. So when it showed up, the first thing I did was set it into place. Fortunately, it fit... with a half an inch to spare!

So I got it installed... but what a job. There is no room for your hands or even fingers in the tight space. I could have made it easier had I removed the kitchen sink, but that was a whole other job.

And then the big test of course was when I turned the water on. I had already fixed one leak, and the faucet had been the second leak. With the faucet replaced, all should be good... and it was! Success!

On Sunday, the rain had passed and I was able to start on the upper bed structure. The support frame had to be totally removed, but that was going to be tough to do without cutting it into pieces. Which would then make it more difficult to replicate. I decided that the best idea would be to remove one of the upper side windows which would enable to the entire frame to slide out, and of course be able to slide in the new one afterwards.

I was wanting to renovate the windows as well, which would entail removing them one at a time anyhow. Wasn't planning on getting into it yet, but if it was going to happen, might as well do it now!

The window out, and sitting on the ground by the ladder.

But it was not a fun job! That window had been installed for 31 years, and the butyl tape that held it in place was rock hard. I had to hammer a scraper into the bead two inches at a time. It took me what felt like two hours, and maybe it was. My arm was getting sore! But eventually it let go. Not looking forward to doing the other one now!

With the bed frame out, I taped up the window until the new one is made.

Now I have to get in touch with an American company who still sells the rubber parts for the windows. It will be interesting to see what it costs to get it all shipped up here.

Son in law Justin is going to help me with the bed frame, but I have to wait for his schedule to allow it, so that project is on the backburner for a few days.

Next up for today... solar panel installation!

Nice price drop on the popular Anker Soundcore Bluetooth Speaker.

And in Canada...

Record low deal on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 5G.
