Still waiting for a couple of things

When we had Bundy and Joyce, our RV in Australia, one of the things that was a problem was the lack of air space between the mattress and the bed frame. And because we were there in cooler weather, that caused a problem with condensation caused by our body heat when sleeping.

And our first motorhome Sherman did not have any kind of spacer either.

But when we got our third motorhome Max, in Europe, it was supplied with a spacer between the mattress and the bed frame, right from the factory.

This worked really well, and we're surprised that it's not more common on North American made RV's.

So, we wanted one for Igor. We ended up ordering a type of drainage tile that we are going to repurpose as a mattress underlay. I've ordered the pieces, but they won't be here until next Wednesday. Then we can complete the bed.

Yesterday, we took Chester for a walk in the woods.

It's a really pretty trail that runs alongside the Gaspereau River.

And our window renovation project has been on hold until we get the pieces I ordered from California. I've been tracking the shipment, and the parts have arrived and departed from Montreal, so it doesn't look like they've been held up by customs. Hopefully they will arrive here by Monday and I can get started on that.

The only other part I'm waiting for is a ceiling light that I also ordered from the states.

So, that's all I'm currently waiting for. That doesn't mean there is a shortage of things to do, although we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Yesterday I completed the DC-DC charger. I installed a switch so that I can manually keep it shut off when it's not necessary. It draws 40 amps out of the alternator, so if the house batteries can charge sufficiently by solar, I don't want to strain the alternator unnecessarily. Also, without the switch, it would turn on at the same time as starting the engine. Better to let the draw reduce for a few minutes after start up, and then switch it on manually.

And, for the first time, I tested both the hot water heater and the furnace.  I cleaned them up and vacuumed some spider webs and rust, and was surprised to find that they both worked. I think the hot water heater has been replaced a few years ago, but the furnace is original. Those furnaces are very inefficient when it comes to propane use, but at least we have lots of battery power.

Remember when I had that frustrating door problem the other day? I used the remote lock to lock it up yesterday, and noticed that particular door didn't lock. I know what the problem is though... I forgot to plug in the actuator before putting it back together! That will be my first job today. Won't take long, because I've had that door apart three times now!
