We've known about this adventure for a long time, but had never done it. So with all the family together, and the grandkids now at the right age, we decided to take everybody out for a day of water and mud!
We had a reservation for 12 noon, but had to leave Lindsey's at 9:30am. There are several companies that do this, and we decided on Shubie River Wranglers. Cost including taxes and fees was approximately $85 CAD ($62 USD) per person for the two hour event.

Not many photos with me in them, but I had my phone in a waterproof protector and a strap around my neck. So I was playing photographer all day.
I did get an ussie with us all though!

We were assigned boat #3 with Ella as our guide. She was really good, and in her third year as a guide. She's a university student, and this is her summer job and she chooses to do it 7 days a week because she says this is way more fun that having a day off! You could tell that she enjoys doing it.

The boats hold 8 people, and there were 7 of us, so we also had Skyler, a girl from Vancouver who was traveling on her own.

Then it was into the water to try and get rinsed off as best as possible before getting back into the boat. I couldn't get many photos from the boat because very often you have to hang on with both hands!
We stopped at a sandbank island where everybody got off and they explained a little more about the tides. We were there at exactly the point of when the tide reverses and starts coming in, and you can literally see the water coming in. In fact, when it starts to rise, millions of gallons of water come in and it rises at a rate of 2" per minute. We stood there as it came in, and the water was soon covering our ankles.

It was tough to take photos that shows what we were doing, but I managed to position myself to take a video where I could hold onto the camera with one hand and the rope with the other and be confident that I wasn't going to go overboard!

We all agreed it was a totally fun time. They also do a four hour tour, but we all think it would be too much. We're all a bit sore today, but it was worth it!
They have some basic shower and change facilities back at the starting point where you can kind of get cleaned up enough to get into your vehicle. We all certainly enjoyed having proper showers when we got back to Lindsey's place!

That was way TOO much fun. I laughed and laughed. Just like being a kid again. Great video Kevin did of the boat ride. Gave me a feeling of being there.

DeleteThe rafting ride was pretty wild at times, lots of work but also a ton of fun. You couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces for the rest of the day, lol!
