A major change of plans.

At the end of our last update, we had overnighted at the Quebec/Ontario border just east of Hawkesbury. We crossed at Hawkesbury, headed to Ingleside to pick up our son's car, and then to Ottawa where we had a 2:00pm meeting with Gretchen and her three cats.

While I am at my annual guy's weekend away, Ruth will be housesitting for Gretchen.

From there, we went to my mother's place and had dinner with her and my older sister.

We actually slept in Igor out on the street in front of our weekend house sit. Gretchen had to be at the airport around 10:00am, and I was leaving for the lake house around the same time.

I had to laugh when I got to the cottage.

They must have known that 8 guys are arriving for the weekend!

Probably the best weather forecast we have ever had for our guy's weekend away. Sunny and 25C (77F) all three days.

This is our fourth time at this location. One of the guys has a favorite bedroom.

We have been scheduled to do the house sit in Manotick for the month of October. We've done this sit several times before, and have had it booked since March or April.

Yesterday, we received an email from the hosts saying that they have had to cancel their trip due to medical issues. They apologized profusely, and even offered to pay for an Airbnb for us while we figure out different plans. That's not going to be necessary, because we just roll with the punches and we'll figure something out. Fortunately, we have the use of Igor until the 18th when our Belgian friends arrive to take him to Mexico. There are some other house sitting opportunities out there, so we'll likely apply for a few shorter ones and take it from there.

Then we fly to Cancun on November 1st.
