And today is the last day of the month. October the 1st, tomorrow, was when we were supposed to be starting our one month house sit out in Manotick (a small community just south of Ottawa). Our hosts had to cancel sort of last minute because the husband is having some health problems.
We understand that kind of thing can happen, and we're flexible. It does present some issues, but nothing we can't deal with.
There are a few local housesits available, but nothing worthwhile that's longer than a weekend. I have a friend of mine who has offered us his cottage up near Mt. Tremblant in Quebec, so if nothing else comes our way we'll probably take advantage of that for at least a week or so. There is some good fall hiking up in that area.
In the meantime, we're kind of in limbo because Igor's repairs aren't complete.
Yesterday afternoon, we flew from Calgary back to Ottawa.
View of downtown Calgary from the airport.
It was a cloudy day, so we left at the right time!
We had one of Subway's new rice bowl dishes for lunch before our flight.
Pretty good!
Everything with our Air Canada flight happened perfectly on schedule. And strangely, our assigned seats were in the "preferred" section, with extra legroom. Nice! They might have moved up a notch in our books after that flight!
Selfie in my "preferred" seat.
It had started raining just as we boarded the plane.
Arrived in Ottawa right at sunset.
The Ottawa River at sunset.
We had left our son's car at the Ottawa Airport Park-N-Fly and paid the $76 CAD ($56 USD) bill there for six days of parking. Then headed to a Walmart where we picked up a roasted chicken and some vegetables for dinner. Then drove to Igor, where the garage had left him in their parking lot so that we could access him for an overnight stay.
This morning, we'll go in and sort out the additional repairs, and figure out when he'll be ready. Then maybe we'll go explore downtown Ottawa for the day. No idea where we'll be sleeping tonight!
