A funny story

Our nearest Walmart is about twenty minutes away. We had to do some grocery shopping, and there were a couple of deals there that we wanted to pick up, so we decided to go to the one at Kemptville where there is also a forest with some walking trails.

So we stopped at the forest first to get some exercise.

It was a nice fall day for a walk in the woods.

So we stopped in to Walmart afterwards to pick up some groceries. We really try to flyer shop when we're here, because we're still having sticker shock even though we've been here for three and a half months! Regular prices are mostly ridiculous, but you can get some reasonable deals if you buy stuff that's on sale.

I wanted some strawberry jam, but it wasn't on sale. They wanted $5.75 for the 500ml size jar and I hummed and hawed, eventually deciding not to, thinking that was a bit pricey. Ruth agreed.

Then yesterday, we stopped at a Your Independent store to pick up a few things and we checked out the strawberry jam there.

The exact same jar was $8.75! Holy crap!

And we had thought the $5.75 was already pricey. Too funny. Needless to say, if we're near another Walmart I'll pick some up there.

One of the reasons we agreed to this house sit even though it's getting cold and we'd rather be in Mexico is because the house itself is gorgeous. We almost feel like we're on holiday while we're here. The master bathroom is bigger than Igor. The kitchen has every possible gadget and a full pantry in case you need anything at all.  The leather reclining couch is so comfortable while watching the world series (game one was last night) on the big curved screen television. And the cats are enjoyable and no problem at all and easy to look after.

Today, we are doing the two and a half hour drive to Bancroft, Ontario to meet our son Alex and his girlfriend CJ for lunch and return their old car to them.
