Yet another change of plans

Regular readers will remember that we were supposed to be doing a month long house sit in Manotick during the month of October. It was cancelled last minute due to a medical problem that the host is having. 

However, the host was looking for options outside of Canada to get this medical problem resolved.

Canada's health care system has a lot of positives... but also a lot of negatives. It's far from a perfect system, and when you need something done that's not an emergency, you'll often wait months to get it done. So these people have booked themselves a flight to London, England to get this medical situation looked after now, rather than waiting months (or sometimes years) in the Canadian system.

This is Sammy, the cat we are looking after this weekend.

We knew that they were looking at this option, and had promised that if we could, we would still look after their two cats if at all possible.

Well, they are booked to leave on the 21st. That's fine for us... we have nothing else planned and are happy to stay there for the rest of the month.

The only problem is, they don't get back until November 10th, and we have a flight booked to Mexico on November 1st.

They asked us if we would stay... and they offered to pay the cost of changing out flights.

So that is what we are doing. 

We enjoy that house sit. It's a beautiful home, and the cats are easy to look after, and they give us a car to drive. And we feel badly for their situation and want to help.

So, we are now here in Ottawa until November 11th! It's not ideal, and we are certainly ready to move on to somewhere warmer! But we made the choice, so here we are.
